On the 4pm hour of Monday’s The Situation Room, anchor Wolf Blitzer highlighted several political news stories, including Republican candidate for president, Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)’s use of the term ‘tar baby’. To some, the term is a racial epithet, however the true meaning of the word is a ‘sticky situation’, hence the term ‘tar’.

CNN’s Jack Cafferty joined the program Blitzer was finished reading the headlines with his ‘Cafferty File’ segment. Cafferty, who is know for his unscripted remarks, opined on the ‘tar baby’ situation and applied Romney meant the comment in a racist sense. However, Cafferty did not make the audience aware of his racist past:

CAFFERTY: I don’t have an assessment.

It’s comforting to—to look at guys like Romney and the tar baby remark and—and know that we have such a—a high-quality stable of candidates waiting to take over the nation’s highest office. What the hell is he thinking? Tar baby? I mean, come on.

Cafferty has used several racial epithet’s of his own, even on CNN. The ADC notes Jack’s insensitivity towards those of Japanese descent:

It should be noted that Cafferty has a history of insensitive remarks towards many minority groups, not just Arabs and Muslims. In November of last year, he allegedly went as far as to crudely mock the Japanese language through a series of “ching” and “chong” noises.

Full transcript of the exchange:

WOLF BLITZER, HOST: A possible Republican presidential hopeful is apologizing for using racially charged words. Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts referred to the troubled Big Dig construction project in his home state as a tar baby, said it’s—said it at a fund-raiser with Iowa Republicans on Saturday. Romney now says he didn’t know anyone would be offended by the term, which some consider to be a racial epithet.

Ann Coulter appeared on Thursday night’s edition of Hardball to discuss a wide variety of topics, including her book Godless, Bolton, and politics in general. Here’s some key quotes from the interview (via Mark Finkelstein):

Chris Matthews was a splendid case in point on last evening’s Hardball. Consider the very first words out of Matthews mouth to Ann: “The question I have is do you have a soul? Really.” See what I mean?

Seems that Chris was very distressed that Coulter had referred to Mike Dukakis as a ‘Greek midget.’ Hey, it wasn’t Ann who popped that helmet on Mike and stuck him in that tank.

And later: “Here we are. We have Ann Coulter. Look at her. The picture of heaven. All brain, no heart. Just kidding. Let’s go now to the first question.”

One of my favorite parts about the segment was when Ann dismantled this feminazi:

Student: “Hi, Ann. I’m just wondering how you can call yourself a Christian or even look at yourself in the mirror in the morning and use words like the one you just used to describe Gore. Just curious.”.

Coulter: “Which biblical command does joking violate? And you’re a big Christian, I’m guessing.”

Student: “I think pure hatred, hateful rhetoric violates a lot of biblical commands.”

Coulter: “I will try to adopt your charm.”

Yes, Bush promised to veto stem cell funding in 2001, however I disagree with him. I remain somewhat ignorant about the process, I am pro-life, however if it’s proven possible that stem cell research can and will save lives then I am all for it. However, at this moment, I don’t know what to think.

Later in the day the House was unable to override Bush’s veto:

WASHINGTON – President Bush rejected legislation Wednesday that could have multiplied the federal money going into embryonic stem cell research, using the first veto of his presidency to underscore his stand on the emotionally charged, life-and-death issue. A few hours later, the House voted 235-193 to overturn Bush’s veto, 51 short of the required two-thirds majority.

Radio talk show host Laura Ingraham appeared on The O’Reilly Factor Tuesday evening to discuss news organizations undermining the Bush administration, such as The New York Times. Ingraham, who is always right, says the NY Times thinks America is the “single biggest danger to the modern world”, which is why they keep writing about how America tracks’ terrorists. When asked if she thinks Keller and the Times want America to lose in Iraq, Ingraham said that they don’t want us to lose, but it would be better for them if we did.

via Olbermann Watch:

What could be more appropriate than lies and hypocricy to lead into the star interviewee of the evening, the disbarred lawyer himself, John Dean. Keith was quick to plug Dean’s “remarkable” book, and the felon was equipped with all the usual talking points. Hoekstra, because he’s a Republican, acted because he was being “pressured”. Cheney is the evil genius behind it all. Barry Goldwater was “very distressed” with conservatives because the movement is farther right than ever. (Barry Goldwater, who wanted to use nukes in VietNam, and opposed the civil rights laws, was to the left of George W Bush?!?) “Studies” found that “authoritarianism” is overwhelmingly conservative (only 1% liberal).

Patrick Dollard, one of the few Hollywood Republicans, appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night to discuss his new documentary that shows what the real Iraq is, not what the MSM paints it as. Co-host Alan Colmes tried to paint Dollard as a free speech suppressor, but he quickly silenced the liberal.

As well as he shouldn’t ….

WEST PALM BEACH—Rush Limbaugh will not face criminal charges after authorities found he had a bottle of Viagra that was apparently prescribed to someone else, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Limbaugh, 55, was detained for more than three hours at Palm Beach International Airport on June 26 after he returned on his private plane from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Customs officials found Viagra in his bag, but his name wasn’t on the prescription, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Limbaugh’s lawyer, Roy Black, has said the prescription was written in Limbaugh’s doctor’s name ``for privacy purposes.’’ The conservative radio host was released without being charged and investigators confiscated the Viagra, which treats erectile dysfunction.

Maryland Lt. Gov. and soon to be Senator Michael Steele appeared on FOX News’ Hannity & Colmes to discuss his campaign . Liberal co-host Alan Colmes attempted to paint Steele’s campaign as racist since he took money from a man who worked with Senator Jesse Helms. However, Steele shot back that Democrats are terrible with taking money from far-left people and groups. Steele also noted that Robert Byrd is a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, yet no one brings that up anymore. Colmes, acting as a Byrd apologist, said it was 40 years ago. Alan, that doesn’t matter, being a member of the KKK is a stain on you for life.

This is a must see interview and clobbering of Alan Colmes.
