Surrounded by press secretaries of previous administrations and his own Tony Snow, President Bush joked around with the White House press corps in the James Brady room, which will be closed while it undergoes renovation.

When questioned if he thought if Mel Gibson should be forgiven, the President questioned “is that Sam Donaldson”, continuing he called the ABC correspondent a “has been”.

THE PRESIDENT: Is that Sam Donaldson? (Laughter.) Forget it. You’re a has-been. We don’t have to answer has-been’s questions.

QUESTION: Ohhhhh!

Not so peaceful:

NOBEL peace laureate Betty Williams displayed a flash of her feisty Irish spirit yesterday, lashing out at US President George W.Bush during a speech to hundreds of schoolchildren.

Campaigning on the rights of young people at the Earth Dialogues forum, being held in Brisbane, Ms Williams spoke passionately about the deaths of innocent children during wartime, particularly in the Middle East, and lambasted Mr Bush.

“I have a very hard time with this word ‘non-violence’, because I don’t believe that I am non-violent,” said Ms Williams, 64.

“Right now, I would love to kill George Bush.” Her young audience at the Brisbane City Hall clapped and cheered.

Yes, Bush promised to veto stem cell funding in 2001, however I disagree with him. I remain somewhat ignorant about the process, I am pro-life, however if it’s proven possible that stem cell research can and will save lives then I am all for it. However, at this moment, I don’t know what to think.

Later in the day the House was unable to override Bush’s veto:

WASHINGTON – President Bush rejected legislation Wednesday that could have multiplied the federal money going into embryonic stem cell research, using the first veto of his presidency to underscore his stand on the emotionally charged, life-and-death issue. A few hours later, the House voted 235-193 to overturn Bush’s veto, 51 short of the required two-thirds majority.

Joe “Give Me Money” Wilson appeared on, where else, Countdown with Keith Olbermann Monday night in some sort of “exclusive”. Wilson comments on Novak’s discussion with his CIA go-to man Bill Harmon in which he suggested against publishing Valerie Plame’s name. Wilson claims the way Harmon told Novak was “code” for do not publish her name because it would damage national security. If this was the case, wouldn’t you expect him to tell Novak that?

Rush Limbaugh listeners, Sean Hannity listeners, oh my! Newsbusters notes Wilson’s remarks on those violent conservative radio talk show listeners.

Note: Sorry, I accidently deleted this post.

Dean blames Bush for the crisis in the Middle East:

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean accused President Bush last night of being weak on national defense and absent in the escalating violence between Israel and Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.

In remarks at San Diego State University, Dean urged activists to fan across the nation – including deep into the heart of Republican-rich “red” states – to tell voters that Bush has failed as president – including in national defense, which Republicans tout as their core strength.

Bill Clinton and moral in the same sentence, ha!

“If you think what’s going on in the Middle East today would be going on if the Democrats were in control, it wouldn’t, because we would have worked day after day after day to make sure we didn’t get where we are today. We would have had the moral authority that Bill Clinton had when he brought together the Northern Irish and the IRA, when he brought together the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

RightWinged has more.

Tucker Carlson battled it out with Lawrence O’Donnell over Karl Rove’s part in the CIA “leak” case on Wednesday’s edition of Tucker.Tucker wasn’t afraid to pin O’Donnell over the fact he predicted Rove’s indictment, which obviously never happened. O’Donnell raised his voice several times and played the Clinton card to which Carlson reminded him that we are not under the Clinton administration.

(via Newsbusters)

Bob Bowman, another 9/11 conspiracy loon appeared on last night’s edition of Hannity & Colmes to express his outrage that others doesn’t believe in his kooky tin foil hat thinking. Oh, wait, there is one person that is considering it, liberal co-host Alan Colmes.

Transcript via Newsbusters:

In any case, Bowman told Sean “I’m agnostic about these conspiracy theories,” adding that Barrett’s “conspiracy theory is far more believable than yours,” and further: “I don’t know who did it and neither do you.”

Later, addressing himself to Bowman, Colmes said: “Bob, I’m Alan Colmes. I’m agnostic as well . . . As I understand it this theory while propounded in this class is not central to what he is teaching in this class. As a matter of fact, 400 pages are provided supporting the official government version and 75 pages supporting the alternative [crazy conspiracy] version that we are debating here.”

By the way, Bowman is a Democrat.
