This has to be what can only be deemed as rounds #2, 3, 4 & 5 of the WWF of the political world. Cynthia is trying so hard to keep her belt, but it’s getting harder and harder. However, I wasn’t sure Hank was going to make it. Was he coughing to disrupt the cutest little jihadist in Congress as she spewed her blather from the inside of the skull-tightening braids on her head? Or did her hot air scorch the air around them both so bad that he couldn’t breathe? Don’t know. Neither one impressed me very much, but even as his incompetence is so profoundly displayed, the “lesser of two evils” argument needs to be thrown out of the window this time.

I don’t live in that district, but what I wouldn’t give to live there for just one day next Tuesday in November to vote for the Republican – whomever he/she may be – to keep either of these less-than-brainiacs out of the Georgia Congress. That being said, Georgia’s 4th District is and always has been Democratically controlled. Given that, I hope that the voters of that district “get out the vote” next Tuesday for Hank Johnson. Hank doesn’t look like someone who would smack a police officer who was just doing his job on Capitol Hill.
For round #1, see my previous post here. These new rounds, however, are TKOs by the moderators of the debate. I’m not sure either opponent won this one.
“The fact of the matter is….” (watch the videos to understand that oft-used opening to McKinney’s statements – it was akin to “well, you know.. like, it was so, I mean, so, like, you know, we were the evil, like country, like you know?) Can I have a dollar for every time she said that? Aw, shucks… okay.
This was VERY painful to watch. However, it was not only painful, but it was also – again – entertaining on cell-slapper Cynthia’s part. She is the queen of the “non-answer” coalition, and her biggest claim to fame in this debate and others, and by her own admission, is that she is the “#1 biggest critic of the Bush Administration.” Okay, so that puts you where in your political standing? It makes you no greater or higher in prestige than Pelosi, Dean, Boxer, Reid, Kerry, Kennedy, Murtha, and on and on and on. What? Are you guys all going to get into a fight to determine the WWF champion of who is THE biggest Bush critic? I think that can be won by the lunatic left collectively; so, no, Cynthia, you do not deserve a special place at the table of the Democratic party.
The Georgia Columbus Ledger had an AP piece on today’s debate:
Johnson says he is not a Republican pawn and he started running his race before the “ABC” – “Anybody but Cynthia” – campaign began. He said that of the more than 1,400 individual contributions his campaign has received, most were donations of $100 or less. Johnson said his campaign has identified only three contributions from known Republicans.“I can guarantee the public my allegiance is to the voters,” Johnson said.
The candidates for the 4th Congressional District squared off in a live hour-long debate aired on WSB-TV. It was the last televised debate before Tuesday’s runoff election.
In the July 18th primary, Johnson, an attorney and former DeKalb County Commissioner, came within 1,700 votes of McKinney to force a runoff.
During the debate, Johnson twice questioned McKinney about the March scuffle between the congresswoman and a Capitol Hill police officer, asking her to tell voters what really happened that day. McKinney said the grand jury had spoken on the issue and vindicated her.
“What is a woman to do when she is grabbed from behind?” McKinney asked. “The grand jury knows everything about that incident. Mr. Johnson wasn’t there and he doesn’t know anything.”
Johnson seized upon the Capitol Hill incident as an example of what he has called McKinney’s embarrassing leadership in office. While he has spent much of his campaign contrasting himself to McKinney’s outspoken, confrontational style, Johnson says he thinks voters believe he is the best candidate for the job and not just an alternative to the controversial Congresswoman.
“I think the ‘Anybody But Cynthia’ campaign has turned into the ‘We Love Hank’ campaign,” he quipped.
McKinney called herself the “Number One critic of the Bush administration” and urged voters to send her back to Washington.
“I stand in stark contrast to the Republican majority, and I’m proud of that,” McKinney said. “I promise to go to Washington and never be quiet.”
When questioned about the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and the need for an immediate cease-fire, McKinney said that every country has a right to self-defense, but that the U.S. should be doing more to encourage peace in the region and take more of a stand for human rights for Israeli and Lebanese civilians. Johnson said the U.S. should stand by Israel as its ally.
“It’s very difficult to call a cease-fire with a terrorist organization,” Johnson said.

Now if there ever a reason to sue someone for libel or defamation, it would be John Murtha:
A Marine Corps staff sergeant who led the squad accused of killing two dozen civilians in Haditha, Iraq, will file a lawsuit today in federal court in Washington claiming that Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) defamed him when the congressman made public comments about the incident earlier this year.Attorneys for Frank D. Wuterich, 26, argue in court papers that Murtha tarnished the Marine’s reputation by telling news organizations in May that the Marine unit cracked after a roadside bomb killed one of its members and that the troops “killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” Murtha also said repeatedly that the incident was covered up.

McKinney is suing the AJC for reporting the truth:
NEW YORK A Democratic congresswoman from Georgia is suing The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for libel.Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney filed charges against the newspaper’s editor Cynthia Tucker and publisher John Mellott for an editorial column that ran in the Sunday July 30 paper about McKinney’s alleged altercation with police, according to All Headline News.
McKinney’s attorney, J.M. Raffauf, said the column describes McKinney whacking a police officer with her cell phone, a charge McKinney denies.
The suit says that other facts were misstated including a reported suggestion by McKinney that President Bush had known about the September 11 terror attacks in advance, and had allowed the plot to unfold so that he and his friends could profit from the resulting wars.
Sounds like she suggested it to me:
“We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11. What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? … What do they have to hide?” asked Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, according to The Washington Post.

John Kerry was interviewed by Alan Colmes to discuss his new plan, health care. This coming from a man who claims he isn’t in the running for the 2008 Presidential elections. Kerry says his health care plan is only for those who wanted to join, his ploy to get people interested. Funny how he was against Bush’s Social Security reform, which also was a voluntary program.
As usual, Kerry complains about the image the United States holds in—FRANCE:
JOHN KERRY, US SENATOR: For three years or more, this administration did not engage with France, Great Britain, and Germany in the effort to keep Iran from having nuclear weapons and our absence from that had a profound impact on their attitude.
As if the French did anything themselves.

Ned Lamont, the far-left kook running against Joe Lieberman in this year’s Connecticut Senate race appeared on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Lamont is backed by crazy liberals like the anti-Semitic Daily Kos, Fire Dog Lake, and many other blogs.
Lamont went on one of his blame Bush, blame America rants on today’s show. This time he is blaming the invasion of Iraq on the current Middle East crisis and Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
NED LAMONT: No great difference, no sir.Okay. Now I will say though when it comes to Israel, the invasion of Iraq has done nothing for Israel security, it has emboldened Iran and an emboldened Iran makes Israel more vulnerable. We took our eye off the ball when U.S. Should have played its role as a peacekeeper that is one of the reasons we have the trouble in Israel today.

Representative John Dingell, a Democrat (no surprise there right? ) from Michigan – no surprise here either with Hezb’Allah firmly ensconced in Dearbornistan here and here) appeared on a Detroit television program Sunday alongside Republican Congresswoman Candice Miller. After Dingell said he would not take sides in the current Israeli – Hezbollah conflict, the host asked “so you’re not against Hezbollah?” Rep. Dingell replied with a resounding “no.”
This coming from one of the eight members of Congress who VOTED AGAINST a resolution supporting Israel.
UPDATE: Dingell said he was against the violence, not the entire organization of Hezbollah:
Q: You’re not against Hezbollah?
DINGELL: No, I happen to be — I happen to be against violence, I think the United States has to bring resolution to this matter. Now, I condemn Hezbollah as does everybody else, for the violence.

WASHINGTON — The House headed late Friday toward a vote to raise the federal minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 an hour by June 1, 2009, phased in over three years. It seemed likely to pass the House but faced an uncertain fate in the Senate.
I’m not a minimum wage employee so I do not know the hardships of being one, however what I do know is, raising the minimum wage is not the answer, it is just a quick solution. Democrats drool at the possibility of being the so-called public champion and will do anything to get this type of recognition, even if that means it won’t work out in the long one. The minimum wage issue is exactly that kind of situation. The Democrats will scream and scream how this will help those working minimum wage jobs, but it won’t. What you’re not told is how many jobs will be lost or cut due to an increase in the minimum wage.
Businesses will cut jobs and make those who stay employed work harder to meet up for the 40% increase in their pay. I would assume 2 out of every 5 employees would be let go, thus creating a enormous amount of unemployment. However, like I noted earlier, Democrats will not make you aware of this, they only care about being the champion for the people.
