CRAWFORD, Texas – As President Bush prepares to spend some vacation time at his ranch here, not all is peaceful within the peace movement that has doggedly criticized his war policies for the past year.The Gold Star Families for Peace says on its Web site that its members will again flock to Crawford in August to protest Bush’s wartime decisions. Leader Cindy Sheehan is again demanding to meet with the president—a replay of a year ago—garnering worldwide attention and making Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier, the most familiar face of anti-war protesters.
So, Sheehan has purchased a 5-acre plot in Crawford, saying she did so with some of the insurance money she received after her son, Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq.

O’Reilly interviewed Janis Cummings, the mother of fallen soldier Cpl. Ryan Cummings. Cummings, the anti-Sheehan, says that she supports what her son died for, giving freedom to the people of Iraq.
Norah O’Donnell grilled Cindy Sheehan like a well-done burger on last night’s Hardball. Here’s some of the transcript (via The Media Blog):
NORAH O’DONNELL: Cindy Sheehan is America’s most outspoken anti-war activist. But does she speak for America or just the fringes? She’s called President Bush the biggest terrorist in the world and she stood side by side with socialist dictator Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. Now she begins a two-month hunger strike to get the American people to join her mission to end the war. Welcome to Hardball, Cindy. Let me begin by asking you, you know, Americans may hate the war, but they don’t necessarily hate the president. How do you expect to get change by going around the world and trashing the president of the United States?CINDY SHEEHAN: Actually, I don’t hate the president either. I don’t trash the president, I trash the president’s foreign policy, which is fundamentally and inherently wrong and immoral. And I don’t tell people around the world anything that they don’t know.
O’DONNELL: But you called him the biggest terrorist in the world. So you are trashing the president.
SHEEHAN: Well you know he says a terrorist is somebody who kills innocent men, women and children, and there has been [sic] over 100,000 innocent men, women and children killed in Iraq on his orders.

At a July 4th anti-war event, Cindy Sheehan called our troops rapists and war criminals:
We are here to declare independence from war and occupation and oppression. We are standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the American coalition, and Iraqis don’t have enough water to drink, who don’t have enough food to eat, who can get killed when they go to the marketplace to shop for their families, who can get raped by our soldiers just living, whose families can be killed. This war is a war crime and soldiers trying to survive are committing war crimes.
Lt. Col. Oliver North debated one of Sheehan’s anti-war, anti-American friends who didn’t denounce her after co-host Sean Hannity listed all of the things she has said about President Bush, including calling him a “son of a bitch” and the “fuhrer”.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – About 150 protesters sat in front of the White House on Monday to savor their last meal before starting a hunger strike that some said will continue until American troops return from Iraq.The demonstration marking the Independence Day holiday was organized by CodePink, a women’s anti-war group that called on volunteers to abstain from eating for 24 hours from midnight on Monday.
Some protesters said their fast would continue beyond July 4th.
Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, said she would drink only water throughout the summer, which she said she would spend outside President George W. Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas.
In a message posted on Michael Moore’s website, peace mom Cindy Sheehan says she will not eat for two months in a hunger strike against the War in Iraq:
MICHAEL MOORE – GSFP and Code Pink are sponsoring a hunger strike for peace which begins July 04, called Troops Home Fast Some of us like Dick Gregory and Diane Wilson will be fasting until the troops come home from Iraq, and some, like me, will be fasting for a specified time. My fast will begin on 7/04 and end on the last day of Camp Casey: 09/02.We are announcing the fast from Washington, DC on 07/04 and having our last supper on 07/03 in Lafayette Park.
If you can join us in DC on the 3rd and 4th, or fast in solidarity with us on that day, or any other time, please let me know.
