Geoffrey Dickens at Newsbusters:
On last night’s Hardball, leftist and Pacifica radio talk show host Amy Goodman patted Chris Matthews on his back for his long held anti-war stance. Prior to a big anniversary celebration at Rockfeller Center, Goodman started to congratulate Matthews on MSNBC’s 10th year in business but then took the moment to slam its executives for firing Phil Donahue for his anti-war stance. Goodman roared: “they didn’t want him to be the face of this network, an anti-war face at a time when the other networks were waving the flag.” However when Matthews reminded Goodman that: “if being against the war was a problem here, I’d have been out of here about four years ago, ” the Democracy Now host quickly realized her error and made good by congratulating Matthews.
MSNBC hosts not having an anti-war stance? Obviously Donahue was the only show Goodman watched on MSNBC, because just about every host is against the War in Iraq and makes their opinion clear as day. Tucker Carlson, who hosts Tucker at 4pm and 6pm, said this about the War:
Carlson, on the Iraq war: “I think it’s a total nightmare and disaster, and I’m ashamed that I went against my own instincts in supporting it. It’s something I’ll never do again. Never. I got convinced by a friend of mine who’s smarter than I am, and I shouldn’t have done that. No. I want things to work out, but I’m enraged by it, actually.”
Chris Matthews said this last night:
Matthews: “Well, if being against the war was a problem here, I’d have been out of here about four years ago, because I`ve been against this war from day one, and that didn’t cost me a job.”
Keith Olbermann, need I say more?

I may not think much of Matthews but at least he set her strait when she tried to make it out as some pro-war conspiracy.

When the MSM and the Democrats pound away day after day with the mantra, the war in Iraq is a mess, Iraq is in civil war and we need to get out, I am shocked that more people don’t believe this leftist propaganda!

Some of them finally saw the light, why don’t you?
They still aren’t as far left as you think. They both enrage me most of the time with asinine right leaning statements.
What the hell do you fascists want, your view and only your view all the time?
Hell, you’d follow Bush right over a bridge to prove your myopic loyalty.
Start thinking for yourselves!

The MSM and leftist idiots need to get their heads out of their asses. Iraq is not a mess and Iraq is nowhere near a civil war.
Our mission in Iraq is going great – there’s little violence, everyone has electricity and running water, and the Iraqis think the world of our troops. People need to turn on Fox so they can see what’s it’s really like in Iraq and ignore the MSM propaganda

I should enlist? Is this another chickenhawk charge by a leftist?
I served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. My grandson and nephew have served in Iraq. My family on both sides have defended this country since the American Revolution.
Bob: That is nonsense! Most conservatives here have criticised Bush when we disagree. We simply do not buy into the liberal lies, the Leftist Kool-Aid propaganda your side promotes. Unlike you, we look at the facts on the ground and make independent decisions.

I suspect that the great majority of the posters on this right wing war machine web site have never ever been in combat themselves and seen, up close, what war is. Have any of you loud mouths ever been shot at, or shot anybody? Join up if you are so brave.

I think you need to take a laxitive or start drinking prune juice, umnunzana. You’re so full of crap it’s spewing out of your mouth.
How do you respond to republican politicians and the Pentagon who’s own reports say Iraq is worse than being reported – leftist propaganda?

Rusty: Dear Comrade, just keep spewing the filth and when we leave Iraq with our tails between our legs and we start having these terrorist attacks here at home, I don’t want to hear any whining from you!

Sure. We’ll join the army as soon as you move to Cuba or Venezuela to live under your great socialist heroes. Let me know when your bags are packed.

OK!
Ok, here goes…
Ok, Chris Matthews is a loud mouth anti-semite and Goodman is an old dried out bag of slunk meat waiting for a man that will never ever want to be near her, and she is a Communist.
Thanks for the advice!

Congratulations, sir, and your country thanks you.
Unfortunately, most of the folks who actually make the decisions about sending your grandson’s generations into harm’s way have not shared your experience, and spent the war(s) getting dental checkups, flying around texas, getting multiple deferments to go to College, etc etc etc… yet when the other side has spokesmen who, like you, have been there, done that, and have some criticism based on their experience – out come the swift-boaters.

Gee, can some of you Libs explain to me why it wasn’t important that Bill Clinton didn’t serve and in fact as a young man said he “loathed the military”? I would really like to know what the difference is between Cheney & Clinton. I would just like one liberal to explain to me why Bush’s National Guard Service doesn’t matter a wit and Clinton’s deferments mean absolutely nothing.

I have a number of family members who have served during various conflicts over the past 100 years and, while I have the utmost respect for their service, that doesn’t mean they have more of a right to an opinion than others. They may, of course, know more about certain subjects. But we all have a right to be as smart or as dumb as we like. Just wanted to point that out because it almost sounds like you’re saying that we should keep our mouths shut if we haven’t served. I’m guessing I misinterpreted that, but if not, that’s my two cents.

Republican Congressman Gil Gutknecht also thought Iraq was great. “His assessment of the problems facing Iraq and the potential value of removing some American troops comes one month after Gutknecht was widely quoted during a debate in the House about the war.
“Members, now is not the time to go wobbly,” Gutknecht said on June 15. “Let’s give victory a chance.””
Upon visiting…”He found the situation in Iraq more bleak than he anticipated during a weekend visit to the war zone, and said a partial withdrawal of some American troops might be wise.
Gutknecht, a strong supporter of the war since it began in March of 2003, told reporters in a telephone conference call Tuesday that American forces appear to have no operational control of much of Baghdad.
“The condition there is worse than I expected,” he said. “... I have to be perfectly candid: Baghdad is a serious problem.”.....

Yes you did, another person indicated that if we didn’t ‘enlist” we didn’t know what the hell we were talking about. So, I simply indicated that I had served and so I felt I had as much a right to my express my opinion as anyone else.

If I told you where I have served, and how much blood I have seen doing so, you wouldn’t believe me. I’ll just say that I have seen more than enough to come to a reasoned conclusion that war, all war, is bullshit. Many people fight and die for what they believe in while a small group of others profit from their death, and wave flags on the forth. In my experience, those who have really been in battle don’t brag about it, or wish for more for anyone.

I know plenty of people who have served in Iraq and who are still in Iraq. And they all pretty much state the same opinion: Iraq is a disaster, they have no idea what they’re doing there or why they’re there. And they have lost all respect and support for Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
They also say that when all the troops start to come home, we’ll start seeing the true cost of the Iraq war – thousands of mentally ill young men and women who’ll most likely be ignored by the Bush administration.

Because Clinton never went out of his way to start a massive and unjustified war. ‘nuff said.

Rose, he says it’s hot as hell but he does think that it’s better than the last time he was over there. Of course John knows tons of people (probably the Iraq Vets for Peace) but not sure who it is he knows. The ones I know who recently returned say it’s better than it was the last time they were there. I will say though that my husband said he thinks it’s time for the Iraqis to you know what or get off the pot. He’s with a team that trains the Iraqi Police & he said they’re all great guys but he thinks it would be better though for teams like his to stay in country longer than 12 months because the guys (Iraqis) were complaining that it takes about 3 months to get comfortable with the new team and then they’re gone and a new one comes in and it starts all over again.
What JOhn fails to realize is that Dems also forget the Vets. However, that doesn’t fit his agenda but I will tell him from my experience that it’s impossible to get anything from the VA. I see what the fine Carter Admin did for the Viet Nam vets, he slapped them in the face by letting the draft dogers come home while letting those who honorably served waste away on drugs and drink, there are many who don’t have those problems but there are many who did.
Notice how none of the resident libs could answer my question about why the fact that Clinton didn’t serve was not important? Guess it doesn’t fit their agenda.

Sorry, the criticism of George Bush regarding the National Guard started before the Iraq War. It was first brought up in the election of 2000. So your argument doesn’t settle anything.

Hey McG, we’re still in Kosovo and Bosnia Asshat. Here’s another news flash for you, people died there, people lost limbs there and the Chinese Embassy was bombed by mistake. You accept that mistake but not the one that Israel may have made.

Thank you hello for your response. I trust your husband’s opinions more than the MSM. When he says it’s time to get out than let us know. I don’t think we can do enough for our veterans. My father is a veteran of WWII but he hasn’t needed anything. But so many vets have been neglected.
As I’m sure you can see my #29 post was for McG but you responded quite nicely to him. I’ll stay out of that argument.

McG, forgot to add-Khobar Towers-nothing done, USS Cole-nothing done, African Embassy Bombings-nothing done, WTC 1-nothing done. Wonder why they think we’ll cut and run or won’t respond. I will see this, perhaps Reagan made a mistake in pulling out of Lebanon in 1983, I don’t know but I do know this-We cut and ran in Somalia & put it into the hands of some handpicked Warlord. Now Al Queda has a stronghold there—hope that won’t be a stop ahead in the War on Terror. Of course Madame Albright brokered that great deal with NK. Yeah, she probably wasn’t out of their airspace before they broke that one.

The most poignant post so far.
Also can the neocons here explain Republican Congressmans Gil Gutknecht flip flop on the war after visiting Iraq. Other may simply just call it switching from a minority view to a majority American view of the war.
