No it’s not a story… but then again, neither was Bush wanting a bathroom break at the UN. Actually, this one is slightly more of a story, in that it shows Bush’s true feelings. I would almost agree with the left if they come out to say this was a political move by Bush to pretend he didn’t know the mic was on. Just so he could let slip his real feeling on the matter.

I agree that we should see more of Bush in this matter, but the Left is downright insane if they think this whole thing was “planned.”

[...] What is perhaps most telling in this small exchange caught while both Blair and Bush didn’t realize their conversation was being taped was that neither leader argued for an attack upon Syria, something a few pundits have claimed was happening. In fact Blair argued for peacekeepers, something noted previously, and Bush never once said Israel should obliterate Hezbollah, another note many pundits claim has happened. If off-the-cuff remarks cannot catch “warmongering” ways, do they exist? Video HERE [...]

Bush revels in the fact he has always been underestimated. Remember, he has a Master’s Degree in Business from Yale; which is an earned degree requiring above average intellgence. When he first ran for office in Texas he spoke perfect English and in complete sentences and paragrpahs without making a mistake. He changed his speaking style to appear more human, but make no mistake this man is very intelligent; he won the Presidential election twice, and even if you felt Gore won Florida, Bush was able to win the election.

I think you heard the tape wrong. What he said was, ‘this is a dividend from the war on terror. Israel will use this opportunity to clean out Hizbollah and Hamas and none of the Arab countries will even object. They see which way the region is heading and they don’t want to be caught on the wrong side. Soon Syria and Iran will be isolated from the rest of the Arab world. They too will fall.’
That is what was on the tape.

Your unreasoning Bush hatred is showing! No logic, no facts, just keep digging the dirt and leaving a liberal hole, have fun!
Mallard T. Drake: Of course Bush never said nor probably had such thoughts at the time. However, this thing in the Middle East today may actually turn to the benefit of Lebanon and the spread of Democracy in the Middle East. If Israel defangs or even ejects most Hizbollah from Lebanon, despite the pain the Lebanese have suffered, they might be able to stabilize their democracy absent constant war with Hezbollah for control of the Country. If Lebanon settles down and Iraq does as well; then there might be three genuine democracys in the Middle East.
I am not saying any of this will absolutely happen; but it does have that potential.

As to hypocrisy, we are all guilty, yes Eddy even you in various ways throughout your life. Knowing there are moral absolutes and striving to get us all to adhere to them is always said by a flawed, real human being with their own faults. Bush would readily admit cursing is not something he feels good about or recommends, and at the same time he would admit that like all of us he is not perfect and often fails.
So it is not hypcorisy, it is a matter of knowing right from wrong, wanting us all to do what is right, but knowing that we will all fail at times to meet that standard! Thank God that by His Grace He has made provisions for our salvation despite our human failings or none of us would ever gain Heaven by our good deeds.

The scary thing is that this conversation (if indeed private) shows that Bush really does believe that it’s just as simple as that.

Yes Syria’s government is bad, and it allows Hezbullah to operate within it. However, it is not in control of Hezbullah. Go read something about the subject and you’d know very well that Syria cannot just tell Hezbullah to do this or do that.

Hey Zim: Tell us how you know that it is not that simple. Are you privy to the personal dynamics and agreements between the leaders of middle east countries and the militias that they are funding and supplying?
Okay, okay, it is isn’t as simple as “stop your shit, Hizbollah.” It is much more complex, like “stop provoking Israel and bring the wrath of the Jews and possibly the United States upon us, because we are on tenuous ground as it is, and if you want the guns and money to keep flowing you’ll get a clue and chill until we can best figure out how to maintain our grip on power in a region that is changing around us,” or something like that. Is that complex enough for you?

You’re taking what I said out of context. I was commenting on the notion that Syria’s Assad could simply call Hezbullah and make them stop their attacks. That is simply not possible. If Hezbullah wants to stop their attacks, they will, but it won’t be because Syria says so.

You need to get out and interact with people once in a while. Then you would understand what “small talk” is or how a casual conversation works. The President and the Prime Minister were talking in grand terms in an informal setting. Do you really think that the President thinks that Assad could literally “drop a dime” and shut down Hizbollah’s attacks. I assure you that the President’s understanding of the situation is a tad more nuanced than that. Of course since you appear to suffer from BDS, you have trouble comprehending this.

Assuming that “shit” stands for “attacks”, then, yes, Bush certainly seems to think that Syria could get Hizbullah to stop them. If Bush really was speaking informally and not knowing it was heard, then that puts even more weight on what he was saying. Politicians rarely mean what they say publicly. If they did, than I guess Bush must be just one more of those “Islam is a religion of peace” liberals.

Umm,
I find it hard to believe that you have never heard of Machiaveli’s The Prince. Look it up on wikipedia and if you have time, read it. It’s a historical classic and it is fairly short. It pretty much formalized the notion of realpolitik, even though it was written hundreds of years ago.
In any case, you’re right, none of us can really tell what the relationship between God and Bush is. This is why I wonder why so many people take Bush’s faith as something set in stone. If a politician really wants to be thought of as religious, they shouldn’t wear it on their sleeve, but just act accordingly and let the people make their own judgement.

Which is why I don’t have any Jesus stickers on my car, I am afraid I’ll do something that will make others say, ‘yeah, he’s really a Christian!’

Zim 66: What the heck is The Prince of Peace?
Based on these two statements, I would say that you are not exactly an authority on Christianity and understanding who is or is not a Christian. Here is a suggestion: after you are done with “The Prince,” Pick up the Bible and read about The Prince of Peace. Start with the Book of John and go from there.
As far as President Bush being a Christian – “...that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is iwth your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:8b-10
If President Bush made this confession, then he is a Christian. He may be a good Christian or a poor Christian, but he is saved. One last thing, try not to be so judgemental of others and their beliefs until you have at least a rudimentary understanding of those beliefs yourself.

“If President Bush made this confession, then he is a Christian. He may be a good Christian or a poor Christian, but he is saved. One last thing, try not to be so judgemental of others and their beliefs until you have at least a rudimentary understanding of those beliefs yourself.”
But if an evil man made this confession only to get the support of people who blindly follow. To get the power to create more poverty, more sickness without health care, to start wars, to take from the poor to give to the rich and brag about it, this man would not be a Christian. When it’s all said and done, it will be between the people who continue to blindly follow him and God. I can hear it now…
“You mean it was about poverty and not queers? Opps! Sorry Jesus can we come in anyway?”

Yeah, especially those liberal FCC commissioners who now want a 7-second delay on LIVE NEWS so that no “dirty” words are aired.
Sorry, you’re completely wrong on this one. Conservatives try to claim the high moral ground on language, but really, it’s the least of our problems.
This item should be filed under “conservative hypocrisy”.
Bush is also against sex and nudity on tv, but he showers in the nude and makes love to his wife. Yet another example “conservative hypocrisy” by your stupid logic.

To Kett 76: Reread the last line of the quote you cited in your post: try not to be so judgemental of others and their beliefs until you have at least a rudimentary understanding of those beliefs yourself.
As to your hypothetical, one is not saved just to gain worldly power. The confession that Christ is Lord is made out of humbleness and the desire for the forgiveness of sins. If that is not the motive, it is not a true confession. So I guess I agree with your scenario, such a man would not be a Christian. But…those whose desire is to gain worldy power and material wealth would not waste their time trying to gain it through a confession of sins. That path does not lead to that goal. That would be a false confession. In short, your situation is mutually exclusive.
Now, I’ll take a stab here and suppose you are talking about President Bush. Either he has made his confession of Jesus as Lord, or he is play acting. Since he has stated that he has accepted Christ, then you have to take him at his word. As stated above, such a confession is out of humbleness and a brokeness of spirit and a desire for healing of the soul. No, President Bush did not become a Christian in order to get elected President.
And to try and tie this back to the topic of the thread, yes, Christians swear sometimes.

Bush Drops F-Bombs, Knowledge On Tony Blair…
Much has been made of the supposedly off-the-air conversation between U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the G8 Summit in Russia. Speaking on the recent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and thinking…

I’m sure this will make the religous nutjobs freak out. BUSH SAID A DIRTY WORD. He also flips people off:

Robbie ~ Don’t know where my first post to you went.
But ~ I guarantee you there is not a true religious nut-job out there that is as mortified by this as anyone on the left is.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel, you are…
Bush said a “naughty” word ~ SO WHAT!!?? Grow up.
I didnt say that i cared what he said. I have no issues with language. I was just laughing because of what people are going to think.
I guarantee you that it does matter to many conservative christians. My brother n law is a pastor of a church that has 8,000 members and he just about fainted when he heard bush say sh*t.
Hilarious
Ah ~~~ got it…. Just looking to jab, are we…
Let me tell you this ~ Any conservative Christian who would be horrified to the point of losing faith in Bush does not have a proper understanding of the distinction between Law and Gospel, your brother-in-law, the pastor, included.

Krett 77 ~~ Ah ~ so now you are judging the heart of another man. Can you see what is in Bush’s heart? Wow ~ you have just made yourself equal to God.
When it comes time to enter into heaven there is only one person who will make that decision ~ God Himself, based upon his ability to judge the heart of man.
Where are you going, my brother?

Religious Nut-job: You are correct of course. Rob and others cannot understand that Christians are forfiven and saved; but most of us are very far from perfection. If I could only claim to saying a bad word once in awhile, I would feel a lot better.
If Rob’s brother-in-law is the pastor of an 8,000 member congregation I feel bad for the members if he judges them so harshly.

Truly bringing dignity back to the White House.
Broken Mirror: Did Billy Jeff bring dignity to the White House with his sexual escapades, his lying and his phony personna? Does one word or incident degrade the White House so much? Ronald Reagan was the last President to bring true dignity and honor to the office of President; but he was hated by the liberals. So, I guess bringing dignity to the job means if you are a Democrat you bring dignity and if you are a Republican you don’t?
Despite our many disgareements, I believe you are a better man than that, and I don’t believe you would judge Bush for this one incident.

Need to refer back to Zim’s suggestion for you to read The Prince. Using religion to gain power is very productive. If you don’t want to read the entire book, go to
and you can get a rudimentary understanding of it.
“try not to be so judgemental of others and their beliefs until you have at least a rudimentary understanding of those beliefs yourself”
I like most Americans that were raised in Christian homes have a “rudimentary understanding” of those beliefs. That’s the problem. If your going to base your life on and support policies that produce so much bad in the world, you should have way more understanding then rudimentary. you should of studied all the book, there translations and the people who translated them. You should understand why there are many versions of the same book. You don’t get this understanding from watching TV evangelist on Sunday morning.
Bush’s use of the word “Shit” is not a liberal issue. I couldn’t care less and doing a quick scan of KOS and other liberal / Progressive blogs they also don’t care. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if Jimmy Carter slipped out a few “Oh Shits!.”

Drake 81 ~~~ Again, man is not qualified to judge the heart of another man, as we are all in the same boat. Satan knows the scriptures and he is the master of lies, trickery, deceit, and leading people astray.
“Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, ‘Jesus be cursed,’ and no one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by the Holy Spirit.” I Corinthians 12:3
Faith is worked in our hearts by the Holy Spirit before we even confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and Savior. Faith is not of our own doing, rather, “it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
So you see, before you have even reached the point that you are able to confess with your mouth, the Holy Spirit has already worked faith in you—you do not choose God, He has chosen you.
This is good news, is it not?

Now, that’s just silly. Why judge Bush for this one incident when there are so many other reasons to believe that he is a failure as a president and a human being? This is just another in a way too long line of blunders. Clinton’s phony persona? Give me a break. There is nothing real about the idiot in the White House right now. He’s a phony cowboy who lives on a phony ranch with a phony lake stocked with fish for him to catch, waging a phony “war on terror” and trying to make every one believe that he actually cares about America and the Constitution, all the while careening out of control on his authoritarian power trip and practically wiping his ass with the Bill of Rights.
By the way, Reagan was an excellent president – we agree on that. George W. Bush cannot hold a candle to him, and never will.

President Bush uses profanity. Not good! He also has poor table manners – Talks with his mouth full of food!
Most people don’t seem to care about profanity or manners these days, but, frankly, it’s rather unbecoming in a head of state as well as for any citizen.
It’s parallel to the principle of the verifiable fact that when you clean up graffiti in a city neighborhood, you will get the added benefit of less crime as well.
It would be good to reflect on this in the midst of a culture and political climate that has grown callous and crass over the years.

I think people need to get off the President. OMG he said SHIT & ‘he’s suppose to be Christian” blah blah blah…We Christians are human, we’re not PERFECT but we are forgiven. MY uncle is a preacher and IN THE PULPIT he once said that crap was just a Christian word for shit, and the church did NOT collapse!! And he didn’t burst into flames!! And his congregation didn’t flee.
If President Bush is as frustrated with these lunatics as most of us are, I would’ve said it too. I think cursing shows a lack of judgement but having SEX in the White House & LYING about it for months is immoral, and a far worse offense.
And what the President said was true…they need to cut this shit out!!
