Brian Maloney, blogger at Radio Equalizer, appeared on Tuesday’s The O’Reilly Factor. The Radio Equalizer is known for tracking the ratings, employees, and stations of Air America. Maloney has had many scoops, including the firing of several figure heads, the potential loss of AA’s biggest station in New York City, and now the “firing” of radio talk show host Janeane Garofalo. Garofalo, who co-hosted a show called “The Majority Report” has been on “vacation” and “jury duty” for weeks, however that was really a lie to cover up her dismissal from the program. Garofalo will still substitute on Air America, al though she does not have a permanent position as she used to. Maloney discusses the move and the going-ons of Air Anti-America.

I think it will be a very fitting end to Air-America if they are officially pulled just after the November election because I believe the Democrats will again receive some very disappointing results on Election Day.
One of the PRIMARY reasons Air-America was created in March of 2004 was to get Bush and Republicans tossed from office in the 2004 Election in addition to destroying sworn enemies like Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh.
Obviously, that mission worked out pretty well for them that year since Bush beat Kerry, the Republicans gained seats in both houses of Congress, and that trio of enemies have absolutely cleaned their clocks in the ratings since day one.
Secondly, although the Republicans have done everything in their power to get annihilated in November, the Democrats have a real knack for not taking advantage of Republican screw-ups and they continuously shoot themselves in the foot with an M-16 on most every major issue these days.
In other words, the Democrats don’t appear to be a better alternative right now no matter how much the Republicans have screwed up on some issues.
Although I think it is indeed possible that the Democrats could gain seats in the November election, I really don’t think they are going to gain enough seats in order to take control of either the House or Senate.
Those results will be a very disappointing and a very symbolic final nail in the coffin for Air-America.

Apple reports that AA is consistently among the Top 10 podcast downloads. And AA is the #1 streaming radio station and is also kicking ass on sattelite networks!
Oh yeah… and they just added their 87th new station

(Those anecdotes that O’Liely cited were examples of moving the AA broadcast from one station to another – usually a more high powered station or in response to a better deal, NOT as he claimed “losing their stations in major markets”.)
They now averge 1 to 3.5 million listeners throughout day depending on show & time of day according to Arbitron.
Not bad for just a little over 2 yrs on the air I’d say!

Another reason WHY Janeane is on the show so little is that that her co-host SAM SEDER has been GREAT lately
When he started out he had no radio experience! He was just a stand-up comedian! Janeane at least has been doing TV spots regularly and acting gigs!
But SAM has really grown as a host! He’s on fire now! I remember reading an interview with Janeane when AA began. She said she would still continue to do acting gigs, that she wasn’t giving up her Hollywood career, her stand-up, nor her activism just because she was doing a daily radio show!
When the show began, it needed Janeanes star-power to attract listeners.
But, I’m sure now that the ratings are just as high the nights that Janeane is off as when she is on.
Janeane was back for a week last month by herself because Sam was out on a Book Tour.
I’m sure they will continue to trade back and forth.
But, Sam is great by himself, he no longer needs Janeane’s celeb staus to carry the show. He has grown into one of the best hosts on AA
