NYT: ONCE again, Ann Coulter has a book in need of flogging, and once again, people are stunned by what a “vicious,” “mean-spirited,” “despicable” “hate-monger” they say she is.Ms. Coulter, who seems afflicted by a kind of rhetorical compulsion, most recently labeled the widows of 9/11 “harpies.” It is just one in a series from a spoken-word hit parade that seems to fly out of her mouth uninterrupted by conscience, rectitude or logic.
But Ann Coulter knows precisely what she is saying. Her current book, “Godless: The Church of Liberalism,” is heading to the best-seller lists in part because she has a significant constituency and in part because no other author in American publishing is better at weaponizing words. With five books and more than a million copies in hardcover sales, she plays to win and is happy to take hostages along the way, including the women she calls “The Witches of East Brunswick.”

YAY for the NY Times! It is about time that they noticed the big fat lying liars who lie and are a discredit to discourse, those lying assholes!

Hurray for my paper! We have finally broken away from our conservative roots and attacked one of our own. Now if we could only lay off of our enemies like Cindy Sheehan and Al Franken, we could be considered a mainstream paper instead of a right-wing juggernaut

I think it is important to point out how well the book is selling. Is this because all conservatives are evil? Is it because only middle america is buying it? I think it may have to do with the fact that all news organizations have been giving this book so much air time that people want to read it now. Coulter was brilliant in this regard, they didnt have to pay for advertising and instead the MSM did it for her. No matter if you like her or hate her, if you buy the book she still makes money. I havent heard any book publicized this much since the da vinci code.

One thing, unless she commits to some serious sammich time, I’ll cancel my subscription if Hugh puts her bony butt in Playboy.

Rooting against the USA? I would have never guessed! That is the difference between the two of us. I would root for my ally to win. The only time I would not root for England would be if they were playing the US.
Were you praying for the American athletes during the Olympics to lose? I can only assume so.
Thanks for making it clear you want the US to lose in everything! It is a sad commentary upon you.
So I guess you will no longer be complaining about Fox News? With that statement I suppose you can no longer claim they are in the right-wing’s pocket. Correct, or no?

From the desk of Ann Coulter:
The thesis of “Godless” is: Liberalism IS a religion. The liberal religion has its own cosmology, its own explanation for why we are here, its own gods, its own clergy. The basic tenet of liberalism is that nature is god and men are monkeys. (Except not as pure-hearted as actual monkeys, who don’t pollute, make nukes or believe in God.)
Liberals deny, of course, that liberalism is a religion — otherwise, they’d lose their government funding. “Separation of church and state” means separation of YOUR church from the state, but total unity between their church and the state.
I’m an atheist who believes in evolution, but she’s got an excellent point. We lost a lot of rights when the judges changed the first amendment’s wording from “freedom of religion” to “freedom from religion”. You’d think that would bother people who are into civil liberty. Guess not.
Three cheers for Ann Coulter!

Like several others posting here, I am not in favor of Ann Coulter using incendiary language to make her points against the four 911 widows; however, do you honestly think her book would have gotten this much attention and started out @ #1 on the Times bestseller list if she had not used such language? So, because she had excellent points to make about these particular women, she was able to get people to talk about them because she used language designed to incite strong, passionate reactions.
What is being lost is this: (a) These women would not have been heard at all and been promoted by the MSM if they were not liberals willing to attack President Bus. (b) These women at tax payer expense became wealthy. (c) Because of their hatred of Bush and their liberal beliefs, these women have enjoyed a certain amount of notoriety, and much more than their 15 minutes of fame. (d) So, while it may be grossly unfair to say these widows are ‘enjoying’ their spouse’s deaths, I think it is fair to say they have benefited in many ways and are enjoying those benefits.
Ann could have used more temperate language in describing these women, but among the tens of thousands of books published yearly in this country; if she had, I doubt the book would have gotten this much attention. Lastly, I believe the Democrats are defending these ladies and trotting them out, because they are daring people to criticize so-called war widows, and therefore they hope to control the debate and silence their detractors.
8:17 pm [ Quote ]
Bah. The jersey girls lost their right to be outraged at others when they lambasted Bush. If you ridicule someone else with inaccurate statements, you should accept ridicule sent back at you. No, you should expect it.
We should all feel sorry for these women, or anyone who loses a loved one. At least until they use that loss to get something for themselves (in this case, they wanted to get Kerry elected). That is sleazy, plain and simple. Yes, they used their husband’s deaths to promote an agenda. S-L-E-A-Z-Y.
I’ve no more respect for these women than I do for Cindy Sheehan. Narcisists blow, and Ann just exposed 4 more. Bless that brave woman.

In case anyone wondering about Ann Coulters fine education and brilliants.
Ann Coulter is the author of four New York Times bestsellers —How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)(October, 2004), Treason: Liberal Treachery From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism (June 2003); Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right (June 2002); and High Crimes and Misdemeanors:The Case Against Bill Clinton (August 1998).
Coulter is the legal correspondent for Human Events and writes a popular syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate. She is a frequent guest on many TV shows, including Hannity and Colmes, Wolf Blitzer Reports, At Large With Geraldo Rivera, Scarborough Country, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, The O’Reilly Factor, Good Morning America and has been profiled in numerous publications, including TV Guide, the Guardian (UK), the New York Observer, National Journal, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle magazine, among others. She was named one of the top 100 Public Intellectuals by federal judge Richard Posner in 2001.
Coulter clerked for the Honorable Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and was an attorney in the Department of Justice Honors Program for outstanding law school graduates.
After practicing law in private practice in New York City, Coulter worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she handled crime and immigration issues for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. From there, she became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of individual rights with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, civil rights, and the free exercise of religion.
A Connecticut native, Coulter graduated with honors from Cornell University School of Arts & Sciences, and received her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School, where she was an editor of The Michigan Law Review.

But. . .
Here is some food for thought.
http://library.csusm.edu/plagiarism/howtoavoid/how_avoid_common.htm
How to Avoid Plagiarism
Common Knowledge
There is no clear boundary on what is considered common knowledge. Even experts on plagiarism disagree on what counts as common knowledge. For instance, many sources only consider facts — current and historical events, famous people, geographic areas, etc. — to be potentially common knowledge. Others also include nonfactual material such as folklore and common sayings. Some sources limit common knowledge to only information known by others in your class, other sources look at what is common knowledge for the broader subject area.
The two criteria that are most commonly used in deciding whether or not something is common knowledge relate to quantity: the fact can be found in numerous places and ubiquity: it is likely to be known by a lot of people. Ideally both conditions are true. A third criteria that is sometimes used is whether the information can be easily found in a general reference source.
How do you tell if you have met the quantity criteria? Some experts say that a fact is common knowledge if it can be found in three independent sources. Purdue’s Online Writing Lab recommends finding five independent sources before considering a fact common knowledge. The point is that common knowledge can be found in a variety of sources. As you do more research on a topic, you are likely to discover which facts count as common knowledge because you will encounter these facts in many places.
How do you tell if a fact is ubiquitous? Some facts may be well known within one discipline and papers written within that group may assume the information is commonly known. That same piece of information used in other situations or by ‘non-experts’ may require attribution. A good rule of thumb is to acknowledge ideas which are not common knowledge among your peers such as the other students in the course for which you are writing the paper.
How do you know if it is a general reference source? Reference sources collect together facts for easy look-up. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, and gazetteers are typical examples. Reference sources that focus on a specific area are not considered ‘general.’ The definition of Marfan syndrome mentioned previously came from a medical dictionary, a specialized reference source, that may not be readily available to most people. Therefore, you would probably want to cite this source if you were writing for people not familiar with medical information.

Unfortunately, you also can’t demonize people who have suffered tragedy and then used that tragedy to demonize others. I don’t really understand why, but apparently if you suffer a tragedy, you can demonize whoever you want, and no one is allowed to question you. It’s liberal science, so don’t expect it to make too much sense.

Oops Shawn, I thought you were insinuating that Coulter was a plagiarist or something as the accuse-mongering left often does. Please accept my apologies.
Smoker, you really don’t know your audience. I’m sure a lot of people here are god-fearing. But it is very doubtful that they would look to you for spiritual guidance.
For those of us who are not religious, your statement is valueless, except to point out that you believe that God doesn’t want the truth told, unless it’s said with political correctness. If you’ve read the bible, you’d know that God is not pc, even slightly. He’s all about right and wrong. Ann’s right, her detractors are wrong. Yes, God would be on Ann’s side.

I see that the Brits think the biggest problem in the world today is Coulter. Too bad they missed George Galloway at an Islamonazi hate fest.
Red Ken Livingstone is a commie who loves Hugo Chaves and doesn’t flush his toilet in an attempt to save the world one flush at a time.
Crazed Imams hold London by the neck as the Brits try to find newer and better ways to grovel.
Keep worrying about Coulter DickSmokerUK. Before you know it the book will be banned in your country and you will be forcibly converting to Islam.

Ann Coulter’s new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism is about how Liberalism has literally become a state enforced form of faith. Coulter says this herself in her own review of her book. (She did her own review because she knew Liberal le…

Most of you right wingers on here are probably god-fearing folk.
So do you think God would fully agree with the statement Coulter made about the 9/11 widows?
He is not happy about most of the things we say, think and do (me included); but He loves every human being as His special Creation, and Jesus loves us enough that despite what a mess we can so often be, He accepts us and loves us unconditionally, He died and rose again to prove it.

OK, I’ve had enough of this LIE which is all over the media about how ‘Coulter says such and such about 9/11 widows.’ She isn’t talking about ALL 9/11 widows.
Coulter is talking about Kristin Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza.
Coulter is not talking about ANY OTHER 9/11 widows. Stop LYING, please.

Liberal attack style #47. Accuse conservatives of something and then act like it’s true. Lies are as acceptable as fact, since you just need an accusation.
Coulter: The massive Dickey-Lincoln Dam, a $227 million hydroelectric project proposed on upper St. John River in Maine, was halted by the discovery of the Furbish lousewort, a plant previously believed to be extinct.

Sure looks like plagarism to me. But since conservatives defended Ben Domenech, I’m sure you’ll disagree.

You are correct The Watcher, they didn’t critisize Clinton and if they had they wouldn’t have been held up by the MSM either.

I am not a Liberal but, It is a matter of fact that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and
heritage and yes Jesus Christ was a Jew. He was born in Jerusalem.

It’s plagiarism in the sense that saying a sentence that anyone has ever said is plagiarism. If that is plagiarism, then not much can legally be said anymore. We’ve pretty much said most words in most combinations.
I hope this post didn’t express the opinion of anyone who came before me, because I don’t want to have plagiarizee them!
