Expose the Left
May 4, 2006

Debra Burlingame (previous posts), sister of Charles Burlingame, the pilot on Flight 77, the plane that crashed into the Pentagon, Peter Gadiel, who’s son was killed on 9/11, David Beamer, who son was on United Flight 93, and FOX News legal analyst Peter Johnson appeared on Hannity & Colmes tonight to react. All three family members were upset over the verdict, they all thought that the jury should have sentenced Moussaoui to death.

[...] Update: Try to look surprised. And here’s more video from Hot Air affiliate Expose the Left; oddly, 9/11 relative Debra Burlingame finds no solace in the rousing moral victory we achieved by denying Moussaoui martyrdom. [...]

Actually, the only form of Martyrdon is to kill non-believers, which he failed to do, so Moussaoui has to pass go, and not collect 72 virgins.

They should have walked him out to the front of the court house, and strung him up by his neck on national TV, or let the families stone him to death. That would be honorable according to Islam.

FOX stacked the deck – of course ALL 9/11 families don’t approve of the death penalty.

Being “fair and balanced” would’ve meant hearing from one of them, too.

I really don’t understand the “right to execute” Right.

Isn’t rotting in prison for the rest of your live worse than a quite and painless death?

Wasn’t “killing to make a point” the same thinking that was behind 9/11 in the first place?

With free food? And books? And medical care? And humanitarian visits? When you seem to be so bug-f**king crazy that the isolation can’t make you any crazier than you already ARE?
C’mon – you’ve GOTTA be thinking better than THAT.

They weren’t trying to make a point, they were trying to kill human beings, and destroy our economy. Killing those who have commited crimes against humanity is called Justice.

Theo, if you lost a member on 9/11 would you want the death penalty for moussaoui?

Originally I too wanted the death penalty until I did some research about where he is going.

    www.supermaxed.com

Prisoners spend 23 hours a day locked in their cells and are only allowed outside in leg-irons and handcuffs.

This is no prison as seen on Foxs’ “Prison Break”; this is worse than death.

How about it Theo, what say you to DKM’s question?

I’ve said it before, there are dead murdered Americans, 3,000 reasons in a hole in New York why Mousorry should be shot in a field on a pig farm and burried in pig skins under a women’s public toilet.

This makes us look like Clinton pussies to the porKoranimals that cut people’s heads off for pre-marital sex. Mercy is something you show to animals and humans, not terrorist. Unless you have forgotten the lessons of 9-11.

Wasn’t “killing to make a point” the same thinking that was behind 9/11 in the first place?

Ah no, the muslime hyjackers were commiting mass murder to please a pagan desert moon god, an example Muhamhead first displayed while in Medina by slaughering all the men of the Jewish tibe Bani Quraiza. His example was followed far into Europe where his horde was finally stopped in 732 by Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours.

Sorry to bother the dhimmitude liberals with historical facts regarding the roots of islamic terrorism. You may now feel free to change the subject.

    DKM - no, I wouldn’t.
I have these kooky things called principles that I try to live by.
The death penalty wouldn’t bring my family back, and would make a murderer of me and everyone else who allows it to happen.

But mostly, I follow principles so I don’t end up spending my days dreaming up sick-fuck revenge fantasies like my buddy Icerigger here. Someone else posted a similar one in a previous Moussawi thread.

I will never, for the life of me, understand conservatives’ blind spot when it comes to irony.

You want to kill to teach a lesson that killing is wrong.
You respond to the ghastly violence of 9-11 by creating fantasies (and encouraging the reality) of killing them in even more visceral ways.

I’m an atheist (raised Catholic), and I understand “WWJD?” better than you people.

Doesn’t make me or the Democrats “soft” on terrorism. We take them out where they are (which wasn’t Iraq) and we defend ourselves at home as well as possible. The administration YOU support has created chaos abroad and a sieve at home.

It’s not killing to show killing is wrong. It’s punishment and closure. I don’t care what he wants or how he feels. Shut him up and be done with him. We then move on.

Thank you, Theo. Although you go too far by painting all conservatives with the same brush.

But, yes, Jesus said to love your enemy. And it’s not like he just mumbled it in his sleep one night—this is a very central message of the faith. You are not a Christian if you do not at least attempt to live up to this moral principle.

Moussaoui About To Die a Little Every Day, Maybe a Lot One Day…

Following yesterday’s verdict that his life be spared, Moussaoui is on his way to the same Colorado Supermax facility (the “Alcatraz of the Rockies”) that houses his buddy, shoebomber Richard Reid….

  15. 15
    Theo Said:
    12:59 pm  [ Quote ]

Well, it IS killing to show killing is wrong. What part of that aren’t you getting?

“Closure” is a joke, and you know it.
Doesn’t bring the victim back, and creates new pain for the executed criminal’s family, who don’t get “closure”, either.

I know you know all this, but you guys think with your gut instead of your brain most of the time. Or, as the hippies used to say in the ‘60’s, “If it feels good, do it.”

  16. 16
    ReaganConservative Said:

    Theo:

Closure is a joke? What an asinine thing to say. Your the typical lib who cares more about the criminals than the victims. You would probably be against the death penalty for OBL too because hey, that might make his family feel bad.

  17. 17
    Mulligan22 Said:
    1:15 pm  [ Quote ]

And leaving him in prison at our expense will bring the victims back? Again it’s about punishment and yes closure. Once he is room temperature there is no doubt he will never bother anyone again. New pain for the executed criminals family? So plotting to kill thousands of innocent people caused them no pain? Now they get to wonder how their beloved son will be treated by America in prison.

So what comforts show we give to him to not cause his family anymore pain?

Moussaoui is a nutcase. No doubt he had/has evil intent, but no way would the 9/11 hijackers want a liability like him. He’s delusional, probably bipolar schizo al Qaeda wannabe.

The jury made the correct decision, this guy had no real connection to the crime of 9/11.

Some may think he deserved to die because he could have told the FBI and stopped the planning. But he didn’t really know jack, he was completely out of the loop.

Besides, if an OFFICIAL August 6 PDB can be given to the president that says “Bin Laden plotting to attack New York using airplanes as missiles” and get ignored, who honestly thinks the White HOuse would have ushered a twittering pschological nutcase into the Oval Office and hanged off his every word?

  19. 19
    Theo Said:
    1:23 pm  [ Quote ]

Closure isn’t a joke, you say?

So as soon as the criminal is killed, all memory of him and the people he killed magically go away?

That’s funny—Jesus was put to death by the state about 2000 years ago, and his ideas are still kicking around…

But like I said, modern-day conservatives are just like ‘60’s hippies: “If it feels good, do it.”
(Ooh, I know comparing you to hippies pisses you off.)

How old are you? Your entire premise is extremely sophomoric. And the comparison between conservatives and hippies is downright laughable.

Why does a self proclaimed atheist keep quoting the bible? Funny you only pick the verses that support your point.

You will not see my point. It’s about punishing him for his crime. It isn’t about memories or bringing people back or whether he had a bad childhood. It’s about him paying his due. Period. I don’t think putting him to death will spawn 2000 years of homage to him.

I am curious though, what pleasantries should we provide him so his family is comforted? Since this is a concern of yours.

  22. 22
    Theo Said:

Not as sophomoric as being a “Reagan Conservative”, but thank you.
I’m sorry you find it laughable, but you have a President who admittedly makes decisions “from his gut” and the voters who put him there do a lot of things by faith.

If that isn’t “if it feels good, do it” – doing something that FEELS “right”, even in the face of facts – then I don’t know what is.

And if I’m not mistaken, OBL wouldn’t be tried in an American court, and even if he was, we couldn’t pin much more on him than we did Moussawi (conspiracy charges).

Yes, I’d be against the death penalty for OBL. I don’t pick and choose my ethics like a lot of you good Christians do.

Yeah, well neither did Pontias Pilate. ;)

I was raised Catholic, pardner. Chances are I know and follow its tenants better than most of the people on this board.

It’s the Christian Party in this country (let’s be honest, that’s what it is – libertarian Republicanism is dead) that doesn’t act much like Christ.

Or, as my main man Gandhi said: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

You seem to have a thing for quoting the bible and pointing accusing fingers at those you choose to call Christian. I’d say you have a problem that Atheism isn’t helping. So good luck with it.

By the way what comforts would you like Moussaoui to have in prison so his family doesn’t worry? You were very concerned about this and I’d like you to share it with everyone here.

    Atheism works for me, Mulligan.
Otherwise I might say stupid things about Christianity as a solution for all our problems.

That said, I know that nuns visit the families of the exterminated criminal after they’re killed…you should ask them why they do what they do.

It’s because we’re all human. We’re all capable of redemption. When you demonize and dehumanize people, you risk becoming like someone responsible for the deaths of thousands, like Osama Bin Laden…and George W. Bush.

  29. 29
    Theo Said:

Then why did you quote his book title in ALL CAPS?
Was that your best effort at a rebuttal of what I say?
Or just evidence of a mental disease?

    Mulligan22 Said:
    2:02 pm  [ Quote ]

So there is hope for you in redemption. Glad to see that. Perhaps someday you’ll find it and you can let go of the anger you seem to have of others who choose a different belief than yours. Again good luck with it.

What comforts should we provide Moussaoui in prison so his family won’t suffer? You bringing that up just got me to wonder?

  31. 31
    Theo Said:

Perhaps one day, Mulligan, you’ll show the intelligence to comment on what I say instead of some dopey assumption about what I’m “angry” about.

You read the Gandhi quote, didn’t you? Did he seem like an “angry” guy to you?

  32. 32
    Mulligan22 Said:
    2:13 pm  [ Quote ]

Theo, You are no judge of intelligence. Perhaps you are just to full of yourself to see that. You cannot answer my simple question based on your own statement. Pity. I was hoping to be enlightened by your vast wisdom.
Gee wasn’t Gandhi a religious guy? He believed in a higher power. You however do not. But you continue to quote religion to try to make points.

Sorry I wasted my time on you.

  33. 33
    Theo Said:
    2:19 pm  [ Quote ]

I’m intelligent enough to know that atheism doesn’t mean I “hate” religions, which you seem to have inferred. I like religious people who actually follow the religions they claim to follow. Gandhi certainly qualifies.

I’m also intelligent enough to see that I did answer your question about the families of exterminated criminals—that they’re visited by Christian nuns for the express purpose of providing them “comfort”.

If anyone’s wasted time, it’s been me. When you’re beaten in a debate, admit it. Don’t get cutesy and start calling me “angry” or someone who hates religion, because you’d be wrong AGAIN, on both counts.

I would prefer a hanging than being forced to watch Tony Snow, Brit “Embalmer” Hume, Greta Von Sustring, and especially Hannity & O’Reilly. Then, dangle Al Franken’s books in front of the cell so he realizes the truth is almost in arm’s reach but instead he will forever have to put up with 5 days on Hannity torture. How terrible it must be to go through life having such a negative view of your country.
