For example, I don’t think the vast majority of Republicans HATE homesexuals; it’s just that many red-staters want to deny gays their right to marry between themselves. Is this hate? Well, most of the Republicans who want to ban gay marriage certainly don’t feel like they hate them by wanting to deny their right, but they probably feel hated nonetheless.
It’s quite similar in the situation of immigration. The vast majority of anti-immigrant folks don’t HATE mexicans, they just want to round them up and kick them out. You might not feel like you hate them by having this position, but if you put yourself in their shoes and hear comments such as:

BTW Ian you need to check out the John McCain 1st amendment rights deal on hotair. I have always been a big McCain supporter but his casual dismissal of the 1st amendment on the Imus show is disturbing to say the least. I don’t know the story behind it though. What I don’t understand is why people worry about McCain- Feingold when Imus still wears that hat.

I agree with the comment from #2 that abortion is patriotic. But, on this topic, there is no doubt the the republicans hate latinos. They basically want to change the statue of liberty to “give me your poor, your weak, your wretched…unless you are mexican.” And Zim, the republican don’t want to round them up and kick them out; they want to round them up and put them in prisons or neo-concentration camps. Inside of every true american is a mexican waiting to say “si lo puede.”

I do not know anyone who “hates Mexicans”. We live in Texas and have quite a few close friends who are Americans with Mexican ancestors.
For myself it is just one thing…they are here illegally. They are used by their own people who smuggle them over the border in trucks & vans and if they are lucky they make it alive. Some are even kept as slaves by the people that they paid to bring them to the states. (this happened last week in Houston)
We work & pay taxes (just like most Americans) and do not qualify for any help from the government. When we are old enough to retire the money that we have paid in over the years will of already been spent on people who are in our country illegally (and some Americans who know how to work the system).
Too many of these illegals are here breaking the laws, bringing in drugs and using “our” rights as an American.
If they are here legally and pay taxes then I do not care if they receive the certain benefits. I do care that Illegals get benefits and think that they are entitled to them over and above Americans.
I also know that there is no way that we can send all illegals back to their home country but I feel that we should send all illegals who have been caught breaking our laws back to their country. Give the illegals who want to stay a deadline to fill out the paperwork & time ot find a job. When they have a sponser to hire them & the paperwork is finished then they should be issued a working Visa ID for a certain amount of time that can be renewed every 2-3 years.
If they decide to learn English and take the courses like all other immigrants and apply for citizenship then they should qualify for all American benefits.
This is for all illegals no matter what country they have came here from.

Phoenix) – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has announced that he will use his sheriff’s posse to help stop the flow of illegal aliens into Arizona. The county is the largest in the state and includes cities such as Phoenix and Scottsdale.
The tough guy sheriff, made famous for his tent city where he houses around 2,000 county inmates outdoors in tents to save taxpayer dollars is now ready to turn his methods on illegals to make certain the law is upheld.
Expect this to be met with a bit of criticism from politicians and a huge cheer from Arizona citizens.
The sheriff’s posse is not new, but this will be the first time they will be used to assist in the round up illegal immigrants.
“There are so many illegals trying to make it into the county that it’s overwhelming my deputies, so I have called on members of my 3000 member volunteer posse to assist,” Arpaio said in an interview. “It’s not only illegals we find and arrest out there, we’ve also made some recent huge drug seizures involving illegal aliens including nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine and approximately three pounds of heroin.”——-

Democrats hate all people of color, they have over many decades enslaved them to the welfare state and deny that people of color have the same abilities to succeed as do white people. Just look at Bush’ Cabinet and other high ranking members of his Adminstration of color, including many Hispanics. The same was the case in his Texas Administration. While I disagree with him in this matter, Bush has always pushed for amnesty for Illegal Immigrants, which are mostly Hispanic. You can add Johnny McCain and other Republicans in the amnesty group. So, it is completely fallacious to say Bush or all Republicans hate people of color and in this case Hispanics.
As to conservatives and illegal immigration, just because they believe we must have secure borders if we are to remain a sovereign and secure state, and that we are a nation of laws and want our laws enforced against all criminals, that hardly makes us people who hate Hispanics. We do hate disobedience our laws and taking advantage of our nation’s services, but that does not mean we hate the people involved.
Lastly, this is an age old liberal tactic to grasp for political power, play the racism card at every opportunity and to hell with the facts.
