Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, Eric Deggans of the St. Petersburg Times, and Steve Roberts of GW University appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources this morning to discuss ABC’s undercover child molester report, Rush Limbaugh, Kaavya Viswanathan, the Harvard sophomore who is accused of plagiarism, and former LA Times blogger Michael Hiltzik.
On the subject of Rush Limbaugh, Reynolds called the charges “politically motivated”. I would also call the media’s reaction to the “arrest” politically motivated.
Eric Deggans said Rush got off light, citing others who have been caught with less got a harsh jail sentence. Perhaps that was because this was the second, third, or fourth time the culprit got caught with such drugs. Also, lets not forget Rush was using a LEGAL prescribed drug. Ironically, when the discussed went to Viswanathan, the plagiarist at Harvard, Deggans was very sympathetic for her.

“Also, lets not forget Rush was using a LEGAL prescribed drug.”
Let’s not also forget that Rush Limbaugh is a DRUG ADDICT who needs treatment and counselling.
Let’s not also forget that the Oxycontin King was getting his drugs ILLEGALLY.

It is only a legal drug when prescribed by a doctor. I don’t think the maid has an MD.

Here at ETL they only care about enforcing laws when they’re being broken by illegal aliens. Right Wing politicians and talk show hosts get a pass.
No… More than a pass. They get sympathy.

Are you kidding me, why don’t you look at how Celebrities and politicians get a pass. Their is a justice system for the rich, famous, and powerful, and then the rest of us.
1. Bill Clinton, Lied under oath.
2. OJ Simpson, Lopped off a couple of heads.
3. Campaign Fraud, both left and right.
4. Enron.
Oh yeah, and their is the whole pardon thing you missed, Clinton signed so many pardons I think he has carpel tunnel. Breaking the law is breaking the law, I don’t give a shit who it is.

Rush IS getting treatment and counselling and has been since the story first aired. Yes he is addicted to pain killers, like Elizabeth Taylor and a long list of the rich and famous. Yes, technically speaking that makes Rush a drug addict.
There is a difference between illgal use of recreational drugs and a person who, while suffering pain for a variety of reasons, gets addicted to pain killers. If you cannot see the difference, you are a liberal!

[...] Glenn was on Howard Kurtz’s “Reliable Sources” show on CNN this morning. Glenn discussed the Hiltzik matter at the very end of his appearance. The video is available at Expose the Left, here, and the relevant segment appears at 15:21. I can’t find a transcript, so I created one for your benefit: Howard Kurtz: Glenn Reynolds, I want to turn now to Michael Hiltzik. He’s the Los Angeles Times columnist and blogger who lost his column and his blog just the other day, over an incident in which he posted, on his own blog and on other people’s blogs, some pretty disparaging language under pseudonyms. He didn’t use his own name; The Times said that this was unacceptable. [...]

Actually, the two people whose cases I was thinking of were both first-time offenders who said they got hooked on perscription medication because of serious health problems—one was recovering from a car accient and another had back injuries. One women, found with prescription medication obtained through a prescription for her mother, was offered two years’ house arrest and a felony conviction on her record. The other person, a guy arrested for forging prescrpitons to get medication for chronic pain following an automobile accident, was offered three years house arrest and a felony conviction.
That’s because, according to Florida law, if you are caught with more than a handful of illegally-obtained pills, you can be charged with drug trafficking, regardless of whether the state can prove you were trying to sell drugs.
El Rushbo didn’t have to deal with any of that. to learn more, read my blog: http://www.sptimesphotos.com/blogs/media/2006/05/limbaugh-deal-best-evidence-of.html
