The above image shows Dennis Hastert switching off from a fuel efficient van to a SUV that would eventually return him to the Capitol building. Liberal blogs, including the socialist blog Crooks & Liars, are up in arms that Hastert did this, as if he was the only one. I guess everyone forgot about Arianna Huffington attending an environment conference, no less, in a gas guzzling SUV!

Those vans arent exactly prime examples of good gas mileage.
They are all full of crap, showing up in SUV’s and limos, especially considering that most of them are millionaires.
You dummies arent fooling anyone, we already know you dont have a clue what its like to live as the common man does.

I hate that Zsa Zsa Huffington is Greek!

All we need now is photo of ultra-hypocrite Robert F. Kennedy Jr. boarding a private jet just before he lectures the rest of us on oil conservation and global warming.
I won’t burn as much fuel in one year that RFK Jr. burns in one week.

At least they didn’t catch them getting into their Private Jets!

Did it ever occur to anyone that the Speaker is riding in a bullet proof SUV for reasons of security? He is third in line for ascent to be the President, and he is the leader of the House of Representatives; and thus he is entitled to and required to use bullet proof vehicles for all his transportation while in that office.
Before we attack people, even damnable Democrats, it is better to engage our brains and think a little first, lest we make fools of ourselves.

To paraphrase Rumsfeld, you work with the security detail you have, and work toward the one you want.
I dont see how anyone could begrudge the house speaker for cooperating with is security detail. Remember that this guy follows Cheney in presidential line of succession.

I guess the Green Machine was Bulletproof as well.

Arianna Huffington is not a politician who we pay with our tax dollars.

I believe all the Congresscritters and Senators are required for use bullet-proof vechicles from the Congressional motor pool (notice how they’re all black). I don’t think they offer hybrids. Yet.
So this is another fake ETL outrage posts.

Dallas: You better check the facts, I think you are wrong. Only certain key leaders have security vehicles. I know 99% of the Congressmen don’t! I am also sure most Senators do not! I should add, most Cabinet Secretaries have them!

“the socialist blog”...
Just when I think you can’t be more unprofessional, you surprise me again.
Well done, Political Teen.

Theo:
I thought good Liberals EMBRACED socialism and hates our “evil” capitalism?
Why is Ian so “unprofessional” for pointing that out?
I guess Liberals love socialism unless it’s their income taken away from them and given to someone else who didn’t work for it.

agreed. glad to see you are turning over a new leaf.

Wait, how is Crooks and Liars a “socialist blog”?

Ian, I think the reason people are mocking Hastert more than Huffington is that Hastert went through the hilarious farce of hopping into a hybrid and driving a block and the getting into an SUV. You must admit that it looks just a tad contrived.
Also, I’ve no idea why C&L is repeatedly singled out as a “socialist” blog. Although, it kinda resembles the way Ian used to write polemics about Oliver Willis multiple times a day and then, when Oliver responded with “Um… who is this guy?” he escalated to making photoshopped pictures, scatological references, you name it. So, yes, Ian may well have a crush on John Amato!

As several have already pointed out, you’re desperately clutching at straws here. Huffington did not make any attempt to hide what she was doing, whereas the deceit on the part of Hastert appeared carefully constructed.
Huffington’s antics were stupid and showed somewhere someone forgot to engage the brain. Hastert’s antics merely fuel the fire already raging around this government being an entity of secrecy, deceit and misrepresentation. Why wouldn’t the media be all over that?

The political teen, didn’t your parents ever teach you that the excuse of “well, they did it too” is about as weak an argument as they come? grow up already.

Saturday Linkfest…
I have to take the kid to a birthday party, so I don’t have much time today for bloggging. I’ll send you to a few spots of interest today. Otherwise, feel free to use this as an open post to promote your own stuff.
