Soledad was trying to ask her what happened on the day in question and McKinney tried her best to avoid the question. Soledad was getting noticeably ticked that McKinney was avoiding the question. And she even told McKinney something like “I care about matters of race too”. Because Soledad is Black and Irish. McKinney’s defense team seems to think that continually crying “racial profiling” will somehow justify punching a police officer.
When Soledad was seeking a straight answer from McKinney, her lawyer interrupted and gave what seemed to be some type of ‘talking point’ statement about the incident.

...nice to see some BALLS on a CNN reporter btw. That was THE reason I switched to watching Fox 5 years ago. I was stunned to see reporters actually get politicians to answer the question.
Everything in T.V. Journalism had been the opposite up to that point. The reporter would ask a question (even a good one sometimes) and the politician would do just like McKinney was trying to do there – pretend she didn’t even hear the question and give some pre-planned, cookie-cutter, 2 minute speech in place of a God Honest answer.
Sh*t-poor excuse for Journalism – thank God things are changning nowadays.

There’s not doubt that racial profiling exists in America, but this is the kind of crap that makes people turn a blind eye to it and refuse to believe that it exists to the level that it does. She obviously has no case and was in the wrong, and now she is just making herself look like an idiot. Press conference with Danny Glover…give me a break. Black leadership would be wise to distance themselves from these types of cases. It’s like the boy who cried wolf…in the future whenever there is a legimitage incident involving racist actions towards an individual and the prominet black organizations come to that person’s defense, they will be lacking a high degree of credibility because of nutjobs like this that can’t admit that they screwed up.

Quick correction on Soledad. Her mother is Black Cuban and her father is Australian. Anyway, folks like McKinney can’t claim Soledad does not know what it’s like being Black.

I agree that was refreshing (CNN) to see those cajones hanging on Soledad (CNN)..but a one time report doesn’t establish a trend…
Think more to the point, is that DEMS (party bigshots, black caucus, etc.) are avoiding Mckinney like the plague…So as the “mouthpiece” for DEMS/LIBS it is was quite easy for CNN/MSM to grow a quick “set”. Particularly in the case of this now ostricized, totally over-the-top, looney, leftist Member of Congress…SHE is making all others of her ilk run for the “tall grass” so as not be painted with same broad brush….ie. Seriously, when her lawyer speaks up to prevent her from having to answer Soledad, WATCH MCKINNEY.
Her behavior for that alone makes me think that, without a doubt, this whole thing is a lie.
Is racism still a problem in the US? God yes. Trust me, I’ve had to work with at least 3 racists in the past.
Is this a case of racial profiling like McKinney claims? Hell no.

It’s too bad the question about why she wasn’t arrested right there slipped by. According to sparse news reports, the democrat leadership held a private meeting with capitol police and did all sorts of finagling, including pressure from a democrat who has some control on funding of the capitol police.
This IS a situation of a congressperson being above the law.

Initial reports were capitol police were going to wait for the weekend recess to issue the arrest warrant. I guess that kept we the public pacified and hopeful, and of course, with the pressure applied, the arrest warrant tanked.
Once again, the powerful walk, and make their wrongs the fault of a “lesser” citizen. Using the racism card is just another excuse for getting away with assaulting an officer. I guess there are two tiers of justice in the USA.
