MR. RUSSERT: Mr. Secretary, if, if demand is up but supply is down, why are the profits so high?MR. BODMAN: For that reason.

Peter Daou says the media is protecting Bush:
The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner was televised on C-Span Saturday evening. Featured entertainer Stephen Colbert delivered a biting rebuke of George W. Bush and the lily-livered press corps. He did it to Bush’s face, unflinching and unbowed by the audience’s muted, humorless response. Democratic Underground members commented in real time (here, here, and here).
So Daou says the media is protecting Bush because they are not reporting on Stephen Colbert’s comedy act at last night’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner? Excuse me, but I don’t remember anyone reporting about Cedric the Entertainer’s performance at last year’s dinner. I love it how libidiots, including the socialist, whine that the Bush administration is waging a “War on the Media”, when they are doing the same exact thing. Like I said in my last post, don’t throw rocks at glass houses, fools.
Anything clipworthy?

On this morning’s edition of CNN’s Reliable Sources, Howard Kurtz asked only his liberal guests about what he proclaims FOX News’ “bias” in two separate segments. In the first segment, he asked Joe Lockhart, former Press Secretary under the Clinton administration. In the second segment, he asked Washington Post reporter Dana Milbank.
Howard, as a reporter, shouldn’t you know not to throw rocks at glass houses? Expose the Left and Newsbusters have documented many, many instances of bias at CNN, especially the passionate reporting on how great Bill Clinton was. They don’t call CNN the Clinton News Network for nothing.
The most recent instance is Bill Schneider reminding us about the “good times” under Clinton’s administration.
And lets not forget the commercial that reminds us to watch the Bill Clinton AIDS special on CNN —it’s not like I haven’t seen the commercial every single break:

JUAN WILLIAMS: Well I’m glad to hear that you saying if you know that inventories are high this week, so that you understand there is no reason for the prices to keep going up except some kind of gouging or exploitation here by oil companies. I mean, I’m glad to hear finally turned around because of supply and demand, there are certain rules we should obey in the country. But if you look at the profits this week, profits are soaring through the roof. 50% rise in profits for these oil companies.WILLIAM KRISTOL: What were Exxon-Mobil’s profits up?
WILLIAMS: Uhhh, I think Exxon-Mobil was—
KRISTOL:—7 percent. Their sales were up 8 percent. Is that price gouging? Sales up 8 percent, profits up 7 percent.WILLIAMS: [speechless] Yeah. It seems to me that there is no basis at this point for explaining this, except that there is some corruption and the corruption comes from people who are speculating and pushing prices up unnecessarily and I think hurting the economy. And by the way, hurting President Bush.

Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit, Eric Deggans of the St. Petersburg Times, and Steve Roberts of GW University appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources this morning to discuss ABC’s undercover child molester report, Rush Limbaugh, Kaavya Viswanathan, the Harvard sophomore who is accused of plagiarism, and former LA Times blogger Michael Hiltzik.
On the subject of Rush Limbaugh, Reynolds called the charges “politically motivated”. I would also call the media’s reaction to the “arrest” politically motivated.
Eric Deggans said Rush got off light, citing others who have been caught with less got a harsh jail sentence. Perhaps that was because this was the second, third, or fourth time the culprit got caught with such drugs. Also, lets not forget Rush was using a LEGAL prescribed drug. Ironically, when the discussed went to Viswanathan, the plagiarist at Harvard, Deggans was very sympathetic for her.

It was done extremely well. No politics are involved, just straight facts.
I don’t know how someone could review the movie and give it less than an A, but several reviewers did (via Neal):
E! Online (B-):
“...ultimately, the film leaves you with the same feeling you have going in: one of total dread.”
Wow, what were you expecting, to leave the theater jumping for joy?
New York Times (B-):
“...it is good, in a temple-pounding, sensory-overloading way that can provoke tears and a headache…”
Again, what were you expecting?
San Francisco Chronicle (B+):
“...powerful and thoughtful…”
Apparently not “thoughtful” enough for an A though.

Hat tip Darnell, who writes:
The New Black Panther nut (Malik Zulu Shabazz) is on Foxnews tonight. Started at about 9:04PM.He mentioned that his bunch is now there calling for “full prosecution”. (Never mind that the accused may not be guilty.)
He said that his group comes for “peace if possible”. SAY WHAT?
Peace IF POSSIBLE? Given he is already viewed as an extremist that’s an interesting choice of words. Well actually he is an extremist and a racist.
He also mentioned that there would be no presumption on innocence if the victim was White and the accused was Black. (Never mind that Kobe’s accuser was denounced.) So in his twisted mind he feels he should treat the accused as guilty, regardless of the facts. No “innocent till proven guilty” in his book. Oh, but he only uses this logic when the accuser is Black. He says himself that his group shows up to defend “Black people”, never mind the rest of the nation.
I almost fell out of my chair laughing after Malik said “The New black panther party is not some extremist organization”. Yes, because saying Jews knew about 9/11 and the levees in New Orleans were blown up by white men is so not extremist thinking.
