Expose the Left

On tonight’s edition of Countdown, host Keith Olbermann implied that the e-mail ABC’s John R. Green wrote, saying Bush makes him “sick”, was leaked from the White House to Matt Drudge. Explaining how the White House obtained the e-mail wasn’t said in Olbermann’s conspiracy theory. However, he says the “timing is too good” that The Drudge Report broke this news soon after the “war against the media”, as Mr. Olbermann calls it, broke out. Ironically, Olbermann attacked FOX host Bill O’Reilly for coming up with the phrase the “war against Christmas” last year, and now the former has his own self proclaimed war.

Olbermann’s guest, Dana Milbank wanted nothing to do with the attacks on Matt Drudge. In fact, Milbank said he would never call Drudge “deplorable”, as Olbermann did.

KEITH OLBERMANN, HOST: On the other hand, the war against the media is not something from our imagination; it certainly got a little personal today. There was an e-mail that a producer from ABC News had written in the fall of 2004 during the Presidential campaign that was leaked to the infamous, deplorable Matt Drudge. The e-mail read as of posting today “Are you watching this? Bush makes me sick. If he uses the ‘mixed messages’ line one more time, I’m going to puke?. I’m not even going to put the “if that came from the White House somehow? thing because the timing is too good. When you consider the President won that election the e-mail wasn’t even about Iraq, does this not smack the desperation on part of the White House to let something like that leak out right now.

DANA MILBANK, THE WASHINGTON POST: Well, I, first of all, am never going to call Matt Drudge deplorable. Every time he links to one of my stories, I get an extra 50,000 hits, they tell me, so-

OLBERMANN: Good. Good for you.

MILBANK: So let’s establish that.

OLBERMANN: I said it, not you.

MILBANK: You’re toast Keith.

OLBERMANN: [sarcastically] I’ll go to the Matt Drudge Ombudsman.

MILBANK: But look, whatever the reason for it, I don’t think we should say, this is unacceptable. We have to say it is unacceptable for a journalist to be doing this, in part because look, you and I and other journalists go out all the time and say things critical of Bush, but this fellow, I don’t know his—is obviously very personally invested into this to think of puking. Now, the line about the mixed messages, I remember it from the campaign. Bush was essentially suggesting that Kerry was aiding and abetting the terrorists, but, so why didn’t he suggest people investigate the truth of that line as opposed to getting his digestive juices all agitated about it?

I’m not sick of BUSH. I’m sick of the morons like this guy who cannot handle the heat he is going to be taking. It’s okay to attack the President, but not to take heat for it. What a bunch of compost pile material!

Olbermann didn’t name this “war on the media” just incase you were wondering. A “war” on the media has been going on long before the Bush administration, but if you want to credit Keith with it, go on ahead.

If you were watching the show you’d realize that Keith and Dana didn’t like the fact that a producer at ABC wrote this. Keith was just critical because of the leak at such an appropriate time.

On any other issue the conservatives on this site would be saying how Dana Milbank hates America.

Yeah and Green “deeply regrets the sentiments expressed”. He regrets only that he got caught. Nah, couldn’t be any bias here!

    Clay:

That is true that we on this site would say that about Milbank most of the time, because, well, it is rightfully true.

But as the saying goes…”Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.”

Wow, before it was just speculation, now it’s fact. Jordan honestly thinks Dana Milbank hates America..

I’d like to think not all conservatives just think whoever doesn’t agree with them hates America.

Who else thinks MSNBC ran this story mainly to make NBC News look better than ABC while all the way saying with words how awful it was this put into the public the way it was by Matt Drudge?

I think that’s a straw-man, Clay. When people are called anti-American, it’s not because they dare to disagree with this administration, it’s for instances of troop-bashing, lie-telling, downfall-advocating, blame-placing (on American), or moral equivications.

It would be like claiming we’re putting a murderer in jail because he dares to be different from society. While murder is socially different, while these stances do disagree with the Bush administration, it’s not the lame reasoning or situation you present.

Yep Olberman, I quess it’s okay for the NYT to publish a national defense secret during a war but you beat up on Drudge for this? I said it once before, “Never mention your competition as it will give the consumer something to compare you with.” Anybody that watches Olberman can flip over to see exactly what O’Rielly is doing. And there’s a good possibility they may stay on that channel and not go back. Keep talking about everyone else Olberman. Soon you’ll find you won’t have any viewers because they’re watching your competition. Just listen to Stern (the king) or Imus (on the radio for at least forty years). They rarely talk about their competition. And when they do denigrate one of their peers, I immediately look for another channel.

Or maybe he’s trying to sabotage his own show to get out of his contract so he can go back to ESPN.

I’m not sure which is more stupefying – the degree of bias in the mainstream media or their utter inability to learn that they’re going to get busted when they traipse it around like this….

Misunderstood? Victims of a an educated populace?

None of the above. They just plain suck.
