NEW YORK—Invoking Biblical themes, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton joined immigration advocates Wednesday to vow and block legislation seeking to criminalize undocumented immigrants.Clinton, a potential 2008 presidential candidate and relative latecomer to the immigration debate, made her remarks as the Senate prepares to take up the matter next week.
SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON: It is certainly not in keeping with my understanding of the pictures because this bill would literally criminalize the Good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself.

Oh mah God! Is she serious? How well did pulling the Jesus card work for Howard Dean? Plus, not all conservatives are Christian. I knew a Wiccan who voted for Bush. Anyway, at least the smart Americans will be hearing the alarms on their BS-ometer going off.

Is Jesus a euphemism for her husband and UAE employee Bill?

I like her term she used. This legislation is “MEAN SPIRITED?. OHHH so mean spirited Hillary my love, so mean spirited. Why the hell is everything in this country so damn reversed!!?? First, Moron Hillary doesn’t realize that 30% of inmates in federal prison are illegal immigrants. Second, illegal immigrants shouldn’t be voting, what the hell is she doing, promoting law breaking bad behavior!

Leftists always run into the same problem with attempting to pander to Christians: Christians can smell it coming a mile down the road.
I know leftists like to believe that Christians are the weak minded, easily fooled unwashed-mass of society, but that belief only works in the imaginary world they live in, where 9/11 is a government conspiracy and the Zionists plot with neocons to establish Christian Theocracies, and so on. In the real world, Christians aren’t so easily led off the cliff as that. It seems that if the leftists running the Democratic party want to win elections in the real world, they’d use real world facts and arguments.
Better save that silliness for a Democratic funraiser masquerading as a minority church meeting—even Al gore knows that, Hillary.

Sean: Why the hell is everything in this country so damn reversed!!??
Thought about that a lot. I think it’s because you have two competing value systems: the one rising from the Christians, that they got from the Jews, that they in turn got from God (do what you’d like here with the God reference, the point is that it’s a particular historical ordering and development), and the antithesis of that value system that comes from … another direction. The latter seems to be literally the opposite of the former. And when you see something “upside down,” you are seeing the latter in charge. Unless you are a leftest: then you are looking at the former

Hillary has come up with some crazy comparisons lately… She sounds more like Howard Dean than a politically smart Clinton. I mean if there’s one thing you can say about Bill, he’s good at playing politics and getting people to like him… But seriously Hillary sounds like such a female dean comparing an illegal immigration bill to arresting Jesus, and comparing congress to a plantation. Next thing you know she’ll be comparing the White House to those American Pie movies.. oh wait, wrong President, scratch that.
12:22 am [ Quote ]
A Republican should get up and use those exact words, except replacing the subject of illegal immigration with gay marriage and the word criminalize with the word offend. But then they would have to deal with the machete weilding feminists…
I hope for the sake of Republican campaigns that she continues saying things like this, because, like Axe said, Christians will know it’s bs…also, the non – Christians of her party base will not be impressed. It’s a lose – lose for her and her party.

OK! I officially agree with Rush Limbaugh now… I am not afraid of this woman.
What a convenient time to invoke Jesus? How about WWJD about terrorists killing innocent Americans and Israelis? WWJD about the millions of aborted babies in this country? WWJD about a Democratic party that is willing to destroy its own country in order to regain power?
Comrade Hillary, the game is up

Hillary Clinton’s Crazy Comparison Of The Day! Howard Dean’s Got Some Competition!...
h/t Expose the Left Hillary Clinton apparently felt that her insane comparison of Congress to a plantation wasn’t enough, so today she came up with a new one… Comparing the illegal immigrants to Jesus Christ. Ian at Expose the Left…...
12:32 am [ Quote ]
Axe,
I would agree with that. But there are also other contributing factors. I was mainly thinking of the vision of the anointed book by Thomas Sowell. I was also thinking about Michael Savage‘s comments the other day. Clinton likes modern liberal thinkers of the past whose theories have proven to be failures which is evident time and time again. Though they look good on paper, the reality of their vision is always broken. They don’t take reality and statistics into account and when they do it’s distorted. This can be said about criminals and the vision which Chief Justice Warren had on rehabilitation! Crime was reducing before the vision and the after math was homicide rates and murder rates went skyrocketing. Their Sex education programs which was funded by the federal government and made as a mandate for the states was also their vision. The Effects that it had, well STD’s skyrocketed and gonorrhea after 15 years after the program had been started, increased by 350%. What was the solution? MORE money to fund sex education and what has it done? I don’t even want to start on the welfare programs. But I get your point and its well taken.

Apparently nobody else noticed an error in the transcript above. Clinton didn’t say “my understanding of the pictures.” The correct word was “Scriptures,” the only synonym for “Bible” that nominally religious materialists like Clinton can bear to utter without going flush red in the face. Even as she said “Scriptures,” though, I detected a look in her eyes that said “Oh crap, I can’t believe I’m saying this just to patronize those rubes in the B**** Belt.” I love that she claims the bill would “literally criminalize” a fictional character (the Good Samaritan).

The key word in that sentence is “sounding”.
Please Hillary, you’re doing an awful job and you’ve just alienated your anti-Christian base. Moreover, those here legally usually DESPISE illegal immigrants, so you’ve probably lost the vote of Hispanics who got here legally.
Hillary, do what Dean told Kerry to do and shut up, before it is too late.

“Wow Bush used god and jesus referring to war…is he a political whore as well or is this just another if-you-aint-conserve-you-got-some-nerve issue?”
Bush has what we like to call “credibility” since he does not engage in “poisoning the well”, e.g. “anyone who disagrees with me hates Jesus”. as Hillary has done. Hillary has also said blacks should go back and remember the victimhood days by directly referencing plantations.
“Can you say double standard? Hypocrites are so funny because its so blatant.”
Speaking of double-standards, when was it that liberals along Hillary’s line stopped taking a dump on the Bible and started caring about Jesus? Why, you can’t say the pledge of allegiance because it references God, but if you oppose this bill, you hate Jesus!

A politician should only invoke the name of JESUS when they:
want to kill Iraq citizens
want to save unborn American children
want to cut social welfare programs that help living American children
want to save a brain dead woman
want to put to death anyone who has commited a crime
want to annoint a Supreme Court Justice
want to get rid of activist judges who they oppose
want to impose their bigotry on hispanics, blacks, jews, asians, Muslims, gays, lesbians, and other minorities
and ONLY when they are a GOD FEARING REPUBLICAN THAT God himself has spoken to and has appointed to speak for HIM.
Amen!

Clay, I don’t think anyone wants to get into this, but you aren’t seriously bringing up gays in the scriptures are you? Think what you want about gay marriage or if you think the rules should still apply, but the scriptures are very harsh when talking about gays(Pick your Testament, or suplementary work). You will have more luck with the stem cell line.
1:16 pm [ Quote ]
Glory,
It isn’t a matter of using religion, it has to do with it applying. Jesus encouraged people to obey the law, and the big issue here is that there weren’t laws between Judah and Samaria at the time of Christ that kept people on each side of the boarder. Plus the good samaritan was likely a merchant or other traveler, as was Jesus, not an illegal immigrant. Sorry, the comparison doesn’t pan out which is why people feel insulted or that this is some stunt because it doesn’t ring true. (If anyone here has been to a foriegn country and heard them try to sware in your native tongue, you know what I mean)
Cheers

Clay: “Was stem cell research really talked about by God in the Bible? What about gay marriage?” Yes they were: Stem Cell Research – “Thou Shalt Not Kill (do murder)! Gay marriage, Yes God declared marriage to be between one man to one woman and that for a lifetime. Homosexuality? Yes, Jesus condemned the practice of homosexuality, as well as abortion and a host of other sins. When confessed and turned from they are all able to be forgiven.
Hillary: What did Jesus say about immigration? Render under Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and obey those in authority over you in the land. In other words, Jesus did not tell us to be entangled with this world system, which is always corrupt and evil. We are to treat each other in love, obey the laws as long as they don’t conflict with God’s Word and live at peace with our neighbors.
Jesus is to guide our way by changing our hearts, he is not a Democrat or Republican or interested in partisan politics. While it is right and proper for a candidate to confess allegiance to Christ and to have their lives led by His Word and His Spirit, and we are not to involve Him or invoke His name in particular secular political issues.

TheRobot,
I am left to assume you commenting that you think the “Thou Shalt Not Kill” line doesn’t jive with the death penalty?
If so, I can shed a little light on what most people believe about that if you really want… in brief, the hebrew used there is actually “murder” no “kill” which is why Umnumzana used parenthesis(for a difference in meaning a dictionary like webster.com can be used as a neutral source), though if you continue through that section of scripture dealing with the Law that was given to the Israelites it specificly mentions capital punishment. Cases can be made against capital punishment but claiming the scriptures don’t support it or that religious people are hypocritical if they support capital punishment isn’t going to get you very far.
Cheers

3:07 pm [ Quote ]
thanks, galletador, now it all makes perfect sense. So we cannot murder people but we are allowed to kill them in certain circumstances. Gotcha.
3:32 pm [ Quote ]
Yes, TheRobot.
In the Old Testament, the Lord prescribes execution as punishment for the “crimes” of working on the sabbath (Exodus 31:15); cursing one’s parents (Leviticus 20:9); worshiping other gods (Deuteronomy 17:2-5); enticing a friend or family member to worship other gods (Deuteronomy 13:6-10); being a witch, medium, or wizard (Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 20:27); engaging in homosexual acts (Leviticus 20:13); and not being a virgin on one’s wedding night (Deuteronomy 22:20-21).
Not surprisingly, there are also lots of instances where cruel and unusual punishment is acceptable, even when it is performed on children and animals.
How dare you question the Bible!

So as a good Christian, why is Hillary so quiet about the unjust imprisonment of our brother Abdul Rahman?? Oh, never mind, she doesn’t have a chance of being elected exalted ruler of Afghanistan, so Abdul is Arab and doesn’t count. Where’s her white sheet and hood????

Madison: Our Founding Father’s and almost all leading Americans for over 150 years of our history said we should prefer and elect only those people confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, the total opposite of what you have said. So, you are against our Founding Father’s and the Constitution.
As far as your silly quotations, what you forget is that the Old Testament was replaced by the New Testament, and while the Commandment of Thou Shalt not Kill (do murder) is still very much in force; for the balance of those sins you mentioned we are living under the dispensation of Grace (Mercy) and thus any capital punishment for those sins is no longer in force.
You are sadly, grossly ignorant of Scripture.
6:45 am [ Quote ]
Umnumzana:
People like yourself, who selectively cherry pick quotes from the Bible and the Constitution only when it suits your oppressive purposes make me sick.
You and those of your ilk have zero respect for the Constitution.
Fundamentalist and Evangelical Christians believe that the Bible is the word, and that’s that. Whether it’s the New or Old Testament, they love to invoke it as a means to make people submit to their will. So, how dare you call any of its contents silly! And, since you seem to be so biblically inclined, you must be so disappointed that the slaves were freed and those evil women were given the right to vote.
If you want to go toe-to-toe on the Bible, bring it on. You have no idea regarding my knowledge of the scripture.
Don’t be condescending…it’s so un-Christian. Oh wait, it’s totally Christian.
7:28 am [ Quote ]
Also, Umnumzana, see the below regarding the founding fathers and the Constitution.
“The Constitution omits any reference to the divine not based on hostility to religion, but out of respect for it and the religious freedom of all Americans.
Acutely aware of the religious persecution in Europe caused by the merger of church and state, our founding fathers intentionally – as evidenced by their opponents – omitted any reference to God from the Constitution, and created a document by “we the people.” It radically abolished religious tests for office, guaranteed individual religious freedom for all, and prohibited state support of religion.
Though some predicted that a secular Constitution would destroy religion in America, the complete opposite has come to pass. By protecting peoples of all faith (or non-faith, as the case may be), the Constitution has allowed a diversity of religions to flourish in our nation.”
So, please, don’t preach to anyone about the Constitution or the founding fathers, unless you really know what you are talking about.
3:28 pm [ Quote ]
Madison,
I would call that a fair apraisal, though I don’t know that they avoid Deity in the constitution for the reasons you state, necessarily. I think it had more to do with the fact that “they” were making the constitition occording to the dictates of “their” concience. Regardless, I think you hit the seperation issue pretty well. The point wasn’t to remove God from society but to make sure that no religious office gave you power in the government and so no government position gave you power over the religious groups (being elect mayor didn’t make you the pastor, and being the pastor didn’t make you the mayor); and to make sure no one religion was favored.
8:30 pm [ Quote ]
Haven’t exactly sat down to read the bible (there’s a shock, not all Christians commit it to memory), but in regards to capital punishment:
