MoveOn.Org has a new advertisement out that says “our troops are stuck in Iraq”, however the troops that are in the ad are not American troops, they are Brits.

James Taranto exposes this with the help of a U.S. Soldier.

What a load of Spotted Dick (an English Dish)! Well at least they are apparently soldiers. MoveOn.org got something partially correct.

I wonder how many of the moonbats at MorOn.org are stuffing their faces with turkey and trimmings this season. Perhaps a year or two of nothing but falafel and pita would wake up some of these idiot traitors!

I’ve been searching the internet today to see how the nuttiest of libs would try to defend this… also, worse than them saying “150,000 American men and women…” right as they show those Brits, is that they photoshopped the still on their web site after getting busted, to put pants on the guy with shorts… now they’ve apparently retreated all together.

Michelle Malkin’s earlier post has links to all what was going on, including screen shots, etc.

She has a new comment about the retreat

I wonder if this will make headlines in the MSM?

    nevermind… my comment reappeared….

but I’m still waiting libs… please, someone try to defend this. this group (moveon) has basically taken over your party. they are your heros and in all likelyhood do a better job at getting out the money and votes than your failing chairman Dean… come on, none of you are even going to try?

there’s nothing to really defend, Moveon screwed up. Since they pulled the ad when they were critized for it, it may have well been just a mistake on their part. I can see how such a mistake could happen if the department involved in making the ad had no military experience. If this is not a mistake, then they’re going to eventually lose their support if they consistantly mislead their subscribers with false information.

I don’t pay attention to the group much myself, but I understand they do get the message out and are usually reliable in their information (this obviously being an exception), but it’s a stretch to say that they have taken over the democratic party. They have help breath new life back in the democratic party by involving alot of small time donors that can now influence the party along with the larger traditional donors. Certainly
I think a good thing in the long run.

Dean utilized the same base of internet supporters, but he hasn’t been able to gain the funds from traditional donors that the former Democratic chairman was, who had basically been playing the fund raising game his whole life. However, the DNC I think moved away from their core supporters too much under Terry, and the DNC lost the interests of alot of voters even when they were raking in money.

Dean may not have the money making skills that his predecessor had, but it may not matter if he can manage to set his party apart from the Republicans enough to get the base actually excited about supporting the Democrats instead of viewing them as the lesser of two evils.

btw, Rabair, the reason your message didn’t show up initially is because you had two links in it, Ian has the automatics settings on to screen out comments such as that to like that to prevent spam. I responded to your query above but I set off the automatic filter as well when I posted my comments, I should have used the term ‘messed up’ instead.

oh.. yeah I know about the filter thing for two links having seen it in action… it was just weird cuz I noticed my post, then it was gone then back….

anyway, the bigger point here wasn’t just the big slip up saying “150,000 American men and women…” as they flashed a still of British troops… as bad as that is, and annoying that this group tries to speak for people who can speak for themselves and it’s clear very few would want anything to do with this group… the big problem for moveon here is that after being busted innitially, they left the page up, but photoshopped the still image on their page to put the shorts wearing guy in long pants.

see actual screen shot taken purposely knowing that moveon would take the page down quickly after getting busted big time… as well as a close up of the (extremely bad) photoshop http://badexample.mu.nu/#139914

so again, as bad as the innitial “mistake” was, it was the cover-up that is the kicker… and it was a bad effort too… not only was it a horrible photoshop that they created using the pants off the guy right next to him who is standing at a different angle so it doesn’t even fit right… unless he’s got a literal third leg… but even if they had done a good job, do they think putting pants on a guy suddenly makes him American, and then by proxy somehow makes the rest of the group Americans?
