WASHINGTON (AP) — Following the Congress in a midsummer exodus, President Bush plans a Texas ranch respite for several weeks, while Supreme Court nominee John Roberts has August to think about Senate confirmation hearings.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Friday that Bush will leave after signing into law the Central American Free Trade Agreement that Congress gave final approval to earlier this week.

It will be the president’s 50th trip to the ranch since he was elected nearly five years ago.

What this article “forgets” to tell you is that most of those trips last two or three. A handful of these trips involve a foreign leader visiting or President Bush doing work. Sorry folks he isn’t using his lasso or herding sheep the whole time. The inside of the ranch isn’t a home, it consists of more than bedrooms, bathrooms, and a kitchen. He has a “war room” with people at computers almost at all times. He has a large meeting room, often used with his cabinet. It isn’t just fun and games down there, it’s actual work – just not at the White House.

Ian, the guy has this ridiculously powerful job, so of course he is open to scrutiny. He does take a hell of a lot more trips to Crawford. than is usual. Now one can say it’s ok, but it’s a democracy so people will point this out. I doubt he would even argue the point he isn’t the hardest working President ever.

Like the time he had the taliban representative over? How much taxpayer money did he give to supporters of terrorism on that trip? Oh, Yeah, now I remember – $43 million! Although, in all fairness, planes wouldn’t crash into the Pentagon and World Trade Center for months yet – and during another Bush vacation. So, yeah, who cares how much time he spends at the “ranch”?

That’s correct! Bush gave money, which could have been used to better-equip our troops in the field before the war on terror even started, FOR THE IRRADICATION OF OPIUM POPPIES IN AFGHANISTAN! And it’s been such a success, that heroin is cheaper than ever! Thank you, Mr. President [rim shot]!

You know where Bush was the entire month of August 2001, He was in Crawford, “clearin brush” instead of reading the August 6, memo that said that Osama Bin Laden was planning to crash planes into buildings. He also wasn’t paying much attention to the CIA warning that a terrorist attack on The U.S. was imminent.
Bush has spent more time on vacation then any president in history. Thats becuase he is a figurehead, Cheney is the real President, Jr. just sits around playing the game boy, and wishing he could be blowing up frogs like he did when he was a kid. Now he can only kill U.S. Servicemen, and Iraqi civilians, thats the one thing he’s good at. Too bad his stupid 700 Billion Dollar war is a lost cause. Except to The Bush’s friends in the military industrail complex. For them it was total victory. Being the patriotic Amercian you are I have no doubt you are ready to ship off to Iraq when you graduate High School in 3 years from now. (and you know this shit will still be going on then.) Good luck kid, you’ll need it.
