A judge Tuesday tossed out a legal challenge aimed at blocking Nevada’s five electoral votes from being cast next month for President Bush. In election challenges in two other states, a recount was sought and another was ended. The plaintiffs in the Nevada case, who described themselves as concerned citizens, had asked the judge to schedule a hearing so they could prove their claims of voter registration fraud and malfunctioning voting machines.
Washoe County District Judge Peter Breen said in dismissing the case that they couldn’t show the outcome of the presidential election would change if it went forward.
“An election contest is a great disruption of the regular process,” Breen wrote. “The election should not be disturbed nor scrutinized by the court without a reasonable showing of a different outcome or an uncertain result.”
Ok I know this is not political, but as an avid Jeopardy watcher (on everynight at dinner), I am just glad that 74-game winner Ken Jennings has finally lost. I am just wondering how this was announced, before the show airs? Aren’t the contestants not allowed to tell the outcome?
Earlier this week, President Bush traveled to Canada to meet with their new Prime Minister Paul Martin. The United States and Canada have had a bad relationship in the past few years with their former Prime Minister, Jean Chretien. However Martin, in office less than a year, has sought to repair the damage. Bush and Martin talked about their differences on thoughts about “The War in Iraq”. But both agree on the reconstruction of the Iraqi government.
Oh, and of course, a trademark Bush remark.
“We just had a poll in our country where people decided that the foreign policy of the Bush administration ought to stay in place for four more years”
Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, whose name became synonymous with color-coded terror alerts and tutorials to the public about how to prepare for possible attack, is resigning, U.S. officials said Tuesday.Ridge submitted his resignation in writing to President Bush on Tuesday morning, said officials who confirmed the departure only on grounds of anonymity.

Even with President Bush’s demanding 136,000 vote win over Kerry (perhaps, a mandate in Ohio?), some people still can’t get over the loss.
“We can live with winning and losing. We cannot live with fraud and stealing,” Jackson said Sunday at Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
Way to contradict yourself there, Jessie.
“The integrity of our election process is on trial,” Jackson said Monday in Cincinnati.
You’re right. Challenging in a way like this, is not only wasting innocent tax payers money, but is slapping the “integrity” in the face.
Such began the homeland security life of the device that has made Brown famous in military circles — a control unit transportable by Humvee vehicle that merges military and civilian radar systems conveniently onto one screen, helping determine quickly whether an approaching aircraft is a friend or foe.
I thought this story was pretty cool, because of all the technology involved. Brown International, a company that initially repaired televisions, now makes security programs to protect our country and President Bush. They have developed a system (somehow) to tell if a plane entering US terrority is friend or foe. They also have men on the ground, protecting the President at the RNC and his Crawford, Texas ranch. This isdefiantly worth the read.
Outgoing Secretary of Commerce, Don Evans, has been replaced with Carlos Gutierrez (if he accepts). Gutierrez has climbed up the corporate ladder from Kellogg driver, to the CEO.

At the urging of the White House, a key Senate panel put off consideration of the nomination of Condoleezza Rice to be secretary of state, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said on Sunday.Sen. Richard Lugar, an Indiana Republican, said he had suggested “a very early time” for his committee to take up the nomination, which must be approved afterward by the full U.S. Senate.
Reporters for the newspaper went over more than 17,000 optical scan ballots cast in three rural counties mentioned by doubters: Suwannee, Lafayette and Union. All three are overwhelmingly Democratic in registration, but chose President Bush
In Lafayette County, Florida where 83% of voters are Democrat’s, it went overwhelmingly for President Bush. Looks like Jesusland, is just getting larger.
